Attention Sophomores and Juniors: There will be a FREE practice ACT test offered at South on

Attention Ambassadors! Please see Mrs. Jacobson ASAP to sign up for Thursday night’s 8 th
Grade Night. Come to the Guidance office and see Mrs. Jacobson in person to get details and
shift information. Sign up by today.

Hey Hornets! If you served on the Homecoming Committee to help Plan “A Night in Paris,”
please attend our meeting on Wednesday, December 10 th. Meet in Room 120 at 3:00 PM!

There will be a pre-season baseball meeting this Friday, December 5th from 7:40 to 7:55 AM in
the Little Theatre. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Hoel.

Attention all Yarning for a Cause Club members: We will be meeting today right after school in
the Counseling office. Be sure to bring your projects and a friend. Discussion will be about
arranging a time to present the Special Olympic ear muffs. Don’t miss this important meeting.
Even if you are unable to stay for the full time, it is important to stop in to pick up information.


Archery Club will be meeting today for pictures at 3:15 PM at the East Balcony.

There is an ASL Club meeting TODAY after school in the upper library! Be there as we plan for
upcoming events! Come get your ASL on!

FCCLA will have a meeting about competition today at 3:15 PM in Room 154. If you are
interested but cannot attend, you must see Mrs. Smith in the FACS Office.

Ping Pong Club meets today after school in the Student Cafeteria. Whether you’re an avid player
or new to the sport, everyone is welcome!

Today, Amnesty Human Rights organization will be hosting a letter writing event. You can write
one or a few—people who need your help are from China, El Salvador, Brazil, and other
countries. Please join us after school in the Faculty Café. Snacks will be served!

Attention World Languages Clubs Members: We will be having our annual holiday World
Language Club party tomorrow. Please come to Room 353 after school for some delicious
holiday foods, beverages, and fun!

Peer Leaders, make sure you attend the last PLN meeting of the calendar year this Friday,
December 5th before school at 7:30 AM. The meeting will be held in the Little Theater. We look
forward to seeing you there!

The Class of 2017, Psychology Club, and Hinsdale Hospital are working together to sponsor “Kids
Helping Kids,” a toy drive to help children who are hospitalized or have experienced the loss of a
loved one. Toys are being collected today, December 1 st through the 12th, and will be delivered
by HSHS students on December 15th. We are looking for toys ages 3+, specifically new stuffed
animals, simple games and toys, and books for children of all ages. As an extra incentive, the 9 th
period class with the most donations will receive a pizza party. You may also drop off toys
directly to the Counseling Office.

TODAY is the last day to sign up for the Wellness presentation, “Healthy Relationships,” which
will take place this Friday in the Black and Gold Room during 9 th period. Please sign up by the
end of the day in the Social Work Office, Room 245. Healthy relationships are the key to a happy
life! There does not have to be drama anymore!

This Friday, we will be having our first “Hot Chocolate with the Hornet” before school! Please
join Victor E. Hornet in the Student Cafeteria at 7:15 AM for delicious hot chocolate and
toppings as we listen to a performance by Hinsdale South’s band!

Good morning Hornets! Thank you so much to everyone who has already generously donated
gift cards to our 11 families in need of cheer this holiday season! We will continue to collect gift
cards in the Social Work Office today through Friday. Please grab a hornet from the bulletin
board outside the office if you wish to designate your gift to a specific family or individual. We
would also be happy to choose the recipient for you! Please encourage your clubs, parents, and
classes to purchase gift cards and drop them off this week. Help spread the joy of giving!


fundraising event tonight from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Darien Culver’s. Come for a snack, dinner,
or maybe just some dessert. 10% of purchases accompanied by the event flyer will be donated
to the Hinsdale South Prom Committee. You must bring in the flyer in order for the Prom
Committee to receive credit. We hope to see all of you there!


Examples of gift cards that are most requested are Target, Kohls, Jewel, Walmart, and gas cards.

If you are looking forward to the upcoming holiday, think about a family that’s struggling—
perhaps you can help! Collection has begun for our Giving Tree Program sponsored by the Peer
Leadership Network. We are collecting gift cards for 11 families in need of holiday cheer this
season. Stop by the Social Work Office and pick up a hornet tag on the bulletin board outside to
attach a gift card. You are also welcome to just drop the gift cards with us in the Social Work
office and we will choose the recipient for you. We will be collecting gift cards all week in Room
245. Your thoughtful gift will brighten someone else’s holiday season and be so appreciated.

is collecting gift cards for needy families so they may have a better holiday season. We are
collecting gift cards from Walmart, Target, Jewel and local gas stations. Please stop by the Social

marry for all. Qlub Legit will pay for postage and stationary, and if you participate, you will
receive a free commemorative Harvey Milk stamp. Write for justice and do it now.


The 30th Annual Hinsdale South Food Drive sponsored by Key Club and NHS is underway this
week! Please bring your non-perishable food items to the food truck outside the cafeteria
before or after school all this week. Our 3 local food pantries need canned goods and other
household items like paper towels, shampoo, and conditioner. We will be collecting items all
week to help our local community. Please help us reach our goal of 20,000 pounds of items to
donate to those who need it most right now.

KAPLAN Test Prep will be hosting a FREE practice ACT on Sunday, December 7th at noon. Please

The Indian Prairie Public Library is hosting a Call of Duty tournament on Friday, November 21st
at 6:00 PM. Register at the library or at ww.ippl.info. A permission slip is required for
participants under 17 years old. A GameStop gift card will be awarded to the winner.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. We all know the tragic story.
But, why did he fall? And… Why was he sitting on the wall to begin with? Was foul play
involved? You be the judge. Come see “Hooray for Justice” tomorrow night at 7:30 PM,
presented by the Deaf Drama Department. Tickets are available at the door. Hope to see you



Attention Juniors and Seniors: Have you given much thought about what direction you’re going
after high school? Making a decision is not easy! There is a test called the Armed Services
Vocational Aptitude Battery or “ASVAB” which can really help. The results from the ASVAP can
give you an understanding of your strengths and interests and help you identify a career area.
The ASVAB is going to be administered here at Hinsdale South on Wednesday, November 26 th
during morning classes. It is absolutely free and cover a lot of different areas to help in your
career decision. If you are interested in the Armed Forces as an option after graduation or if you
just want more guidance in potential career options, please come to the Counseling Office and
speak with our secretary Mrs. Koslick or school counselor Mr. Morgan. You’ll be glad you did!

