The November Silent Auction was a great success. We brought
in just over $500 for charity. I want to thank Sharon Heckel
for hosting the event and all you big spenders for buying and
contributing the goods. In total for 2014, we gave $1000 to the
Children’s Christmas Stocking Charity.

General Meeting Happenings. Remember, PSRG meets
the first Tuesday each month, generally around 7:30 p.m.
December 2 - Holiday Gift Exchange. Find that special
gift, whether it be a fine wine to a white elephant, for
our rousing annual gift exchange event. Bring your gift
wrapped and label “Man” or “Woman” or no label if it’s
appropriate for either. Then draw your number in rotation
and either “steal” a gift or select one from the table. Great

January 6 - Swap Meet Mailer Fold & Feed. PSRG will
supply Pagliacci Pizza for all attendees that show up to
help fold swap meet flyers and insert into mailing envelopes. This is a team effort that helps support our biggest
club event of the year.
February 3 - A Seminar On Flathead Starters. PSRG
resident flathead expert, Gary Duff will discuss common
problems with starters and what you can do to alleviate
those ills. Gary plans to share his recent experiences with
high torque field coils, a new technology that is now available for our V8 flathead starters.

through 1954.

To honor our past founding member Bill Steil, the club purchased two Commemorative Stone Pavers
One paver placed at the LeMay – America’s Car Museum, you can find out the exact location by
checking w/ Guest Services when you visit the Museum. They will have an updated Locator Map to
use for reference.

Greetings Fellow V8ers,
I hope this letter finds you all well. Since I last wrote Chris and I have been to the Central National
Meet in Springfield, IL and to the Western National Meet in Thousand Oaks, CA. We had a good time
at each meet and enjoyed seeing those of you who attended. But now, the summer is over, the cars
are put away and it’s time to think about those shop projects.
The National Board of Directors held its fourth quarter meeting on Saturday, November 8, via conference call.
The Board has decided to sell Club books on Amazon on a trial basis. We feel that this is a good
avenue to introduce the Club and its books to more people. Each order will include a membership
application. The Club’s web site is being expanded to allow multiple pictures in the classified ads and
pictures to be posted in the Forums.
To date there are two National Meets scheduled for 2015: Eastern National Meet in Charlotte, NC,
June 8-11 and Central National Meet in Brainerd, MN, July 12-16. Unfortunately there is not a Western National Meet planned. Plans are underway for a National Tour next summer in California. I will
have more details as they become available.
Joe Abbin, V8er and Flathead engine guru, of Albuquerque, NM has been named as the Flathead
Engine advisor to the V8 Times. Look for his contributions in upcoming issues.
You may have read recently on the Club’s web site that our General Counsel, Mark Jones of Houston, TX has resigned. We are in need of a Club member that is also an attorney that is willing to serve
in that capacity. If you are interested or know of someone that might be, please let me know.
The results of the recent Director Election were announced. There weren’t any surprises since all ran
unopposed. We appreciate all who ran but wish that there were multiple candidates for open positions. My term will expire at the end of 2015. If you are interested in running, please let me know. I
would be happy to fill you in on the ins and outs of the job. Also, the results of the National Officer
election were revealed. National Officers are elected to office by a vote of current National Directors.
For 2015 your National Secretary will again be Joyce Parsons of Texas, your Vice-President will be
Mark Strohecker of California and I am pleased to report that I was reelected to serve as National
President.
Speaking of officers, I want to remind each Regional Group to forward a list of 2015 officers to Jerry
Windle, V8 Times editor and to me. This way we can update the contact information listed in the National Roster for 2015.
Chris and I want to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
As always, if there is anything that I can assist you with, please let me know. I am honored to serve
as your Northwest Director.

A story from Brad Austin about his 1909 Browniekar
Here’s a picture of the 1909 Browniekar with my great nephew.
The Mora company planned on 5000, but only built
130. There are 3 known today.
It has a single cylinder 3 1/2 hp motor and belt
drive. Top speed is around 10 mph.
My stepfather is doing the woodwork and I have
been de-rusting, priming, had a new steering wheel
built (wood), hubs, rims, and radiator. Completion
hopefully this year. The young men in the last photo
are Buster Keaton and his brother Jingles. The car
was sent to Europe where they terrorized the locals.

Sunshine report for November/December, 2014
Hi, All: For the most part we are in pretty good
shape, considering what we have to work with.
Chuck McLeod is recovering nicely, he said, from
some back and knee problems.
Ken Dearden is also improving from some of his recent visits to the doctor.
Annette Kelson and Pat Costello both have had some
of the stuff that bothered them recently and both are
progressing well, which is good news.
I heard once that Gold doesn’t tarnish. At my age
I am sure it was a comment by someone who had
not reached the “Golden Years”. But it is worth the
effort.
So keep up the prayers for our fellow guys and
gals, it helps.

Local PSRG 2015 Membership Dues
Under our three-year membership plan, one-third of our
PSRG members will be up for renewal next year. Your dues
will cover years 2015 through 2017!
If your membership is one of these, you should have received a recent letter from Guy Generaux, noting that your
PSRG dues are due and the amount.

current for 2015, please check your 2014 PSRG Roster and
alert Guy by February 4 with any changes of information:
new e-mail address, new home address, added or subtracted a car, etc.
We like to have the Club Roster be as accurate as possible.

Your new 2015 Roster will be mailed mid-March.
National Early Ford V8 Dues
While our local dues are per calendar year, National Early
Ford V8 Club dues are renewed on a “cycle” system depending what month you joined. National membership
dues/data are handled by Cornerstone Registration (see
your V8 Times for contact information) and can even be
paid online with credit card at https://secure.cornerstonereg.com/efv8/index.htm.
You will be notified by National when your dues are to be
renewed or look at the mailing card that comes with your
V8 Times magazine for your renewal date. National also
has a three-year option, so you might want to coordinate
this with local dues. That way, you pay dues once and don’t
have to worry about it for three years!

PSRG BOARD MEETING ABSTRACT OCTOBER 22, 2014
The October Board Meeting was hosted by Annette and Don Kelson.
The November Board Meeting will be hosted by Joanne and Jim Hendry. The 2015 budget will be
discussed then.
Chris Knudsen will replace Brad Austin for Swap Meet registration. There are still openings on the
Swap Meet committee and a volunteer is needed for the June 2015 Picnic at Bellevue College. There
are some things that need to be accomplished before the end of the year.
The club purchased a 1942 Washington license plate and sent it to the Palm Beach Florida Regional
Group as part of a collection to be presented to the Ford Foundation.
The Board is looking for suggestions to improve our club and attract new members. Some of the ideas
voiced were:
Moving some/all of our General and/or Board meetings to local restaurants with the club subsidizing
member’s meals. We could also reduce the number of meetings.
Moving some meetings to daytime weekends with an event such as viewing a collection or visiting a
place of interest.
Include groups that focus on overhead valve engines such as Mustangs, hot rods et cetera.
Include an indoor club display at the Swap Meet.
Form a relationship with other local clubs such as Mustang, T-Bird, retractables et cetera.
Steve Lemmons, our National President and Washington resident, is his column “From the Oval Office” makes some great suggestions on how to contact owners of early Fords that are not members.
Plerase read Steve’s column and perhaps it will help the idea generating process.
Come up with your own ideas to simplify the club and submit your ideas to Ron Costello via email.
