It’s a brand new year at QFT and to mark the occasion we have given
our monthly What’s On a bit of facelift. We think it’s clearer, cleaner
and easier to read about the films you want to see – we hope you do too.
As always we’d love to know what you think so please email us at

January is always an exciting month for film lovers; it marks the start of the
annual awards season and sees the release of many of the year’s biggest, most
anticipated films. This year looks set to be a vintage one and we are delighted to
be able to include some of the best films we have seen for a long time in our new
programme. So, amongst the many cinematic treats you have to look forward to
we have the powerful The Theory of Everything, the intensely moving Testament
of Youth and this year’s wild card, the exhilarating Whiplash. Alongside, of course,
our pick of the best new releases, documentaries and re-issued classics. So come
along and settle in at QFT for month of fantastic films.
Before I go, it is ironic that as I write this, looking forward to the new year for QFT,
that this very future is in doubt as a result of proposed, potentially devastating,
cuts to our core funding from DCAL. There is still time to have your say and
influence the outcome of proposals so if you care about QFT, our other great film
organisations (Belfast Film Festival, Cinemagic and Derry’s Nerve Centre) and,
indeed, arts and culture across NI, then please, please make your voice heard
and join the #SaveNIFilm campaign. We have until 29 December to have our say
