Revised Delegations Manual
This
policy rescinds FRNSI4¡ Delegations Manual dated 22 May 2013
The FRNSW Delegírtions Manual has been revised and published on the Intranet.
Key points
The key changes are:

Updated links to the new provisions of the Government Sector Employment Act 2013,
and its associated Regulations and Rules.
Revised delegations for conduct and discipline.
Amended delegation to allow Area Commanders and Assistant Directors to approve
air travel.
Additional changes to this manual are anticipated in the immediate future to incorporate
changes to the financial delegations requested from the Minister. For any other changes or
amendments to this manual contact the Governance & Legal Office.
Who needs to read this policy?
Any staff member who is required to approve expenditure or other administrative functions
should be familiar with the delegations that apply to their position.

PROCEDURES
Hazards at aircraft accident sites
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau and the Department of Defence have published a 6th
edition of their booklet Hazsrds at aircraft accident sites: guidance for police and emergency
personnel.
A copy of this booklet was posted to all fire stations
and Zone Offices in November.

2015 SIMS release
SIMS calendars for 2015 have been developed and published to the SIMS calendars toolkit
on the Intranet. Hardcopies have been distributed to Fire Stations.
A number of SIMS worksheets for both equipment and appliances have also been revised and
published either to the SIMS worksheets for equipment or SIMS
for aooliances
toolkits.
Procedure for SIMS calendars
On l't January 2015, SIMS calendars for 2014 should be removed from the SIMS board and
filed in the Station. SIMS calendars for 2015 should then be loaded into the SIMS board.
Procedure for SIMS worksheets
Paper copies of SIMS worksheets are distributed by mail, with SIMS calendars, or with
equipment as it is installed. As soon as you receive new SIMS worksheets relevant to your
appliance:
o Remove the old worksheets from the SIMS board.
o
Replace them with the new worksheets.
Old SIMS worksheets should be disposed of.

the SIMS worksheets for equipment toolkit, print them out, and post them on your SIMS

Highlights of the revised SIMs worksheets include:
o SIMS worksheet, Appliances revised to include checking the cabin protections system
(where it is fitted). This check is weekly (bushfire season), monthly (out of season),
and before deployment (strike teams).
