MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES
• arrivals at the VIP entrance: photo/TV coverage. Free
access, on a “first come, first served” basis
• press conference and national press briefings will
be announced on internal screens
Pool cards

Pool cards are allocated in cooperation with the
press attachés of the member states; they are distributed
by the Council press office, room 10.BD.53.
The meeting time for events covered by pools will be
45mins before the event in the entrance hall by the main
reception.

ACCREDITATION
Media access to the Justus Lipsius building for coverage
of the meeting of the European Council will be restricted
to those with valid accreditation.


INTERNET ACCESS
Wi-Fi (“ConferenceNet2.4GHz”) is available throughout
the press centre. No password is required.
A limited number of internet cables will be available.
They can be borrowed from the press centre info point.
Please note that no PCs are installed.
In case of a technical problem, please contact the Info
Point (Tel. +32 0(2) 281 9000).
REMOVAL OF TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT

All equipment must be removed via the Etterbeek
entrance:
• either on Friday 19 December, after the security
cordon has been lifted, or
• on Saturday 20 December between 08.00 and 18.00

SATELLITE VEHICLES/STAND-UP POSITIONS

Stand-up positions are located on the mezzanine
in the atrium and must be reserved in advance.

Satellite vehicles will be parked on Place Jean
Rey behind the Council building. Parking permit to be
requested.

Video coverage is provided by the Council’s host
broadcaster.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU – UER)
provides technical services for the distribution of
signals, playouts, standups, multilateral and unilateral
transmissions, and reservation of editing rooms.
Television/radio editing rooms are available on levels 01
and 02, equipped with a TV, a telephone (analogue line)
and an ISDN line, and can receive the television signal
from the host broadcaster.

ACCESS TO THE JUSTUS LIPSIUS BUILDING
The Belgian federal police will establish a security
cordon around the Justus Lipsius building and
will refuse access to anyone arriving without an
accreditation badge and identity document.
Access to the building and to the press centre
• main entrance of the Justus Lipsius building (175
rue de la Loi) on presentation of proof of identity
and accreditation badge with the bearer’s name
• everyone entering the building will undergo a
security check.

Parking inside the security cordon is not permitted.

SERVICES
Lockers
Lockers are available in the Press Centre for use of
journalists (Atrium, working spaces and levels 01 and 02).
Cash dispenser
Located near the main entrance on level 00. Other cash
dispensers can be found on Rond-Point Schuman.
Lost property
Lost property may be retrieved from the reception desk
at the main entrance. The General Secretariat of the
Council is not liable for the loss of any items belonging
to members of the press. We recommend that you use
the lockers provided.
Medical Assistance
First aid stands, provided by Red Cross, can be found on
levels 00 (Atrium, next to the exit) and 02 (TV booths
area).
PLEASE NOTE THAT SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED
