offerings for spring, Lent & Easter 2015.
With this new release, I trust that you will find enjoyable material
from which to choose for the Lent and Easter season. Along with
many hymn-based handbell settings, you will find original compositions by Cynthia Dobrinski, Susan Geschke, and one of our newest
composers, Patrick Meyer.

Some of the highlights not to be missed include several Easter selections including “Crown Him with Many Crowns” (Raney/Sherman),
“Thine Is the Glory” (Raney), “Glorious Celebration” (Dobrinski),
“Hymn of Promise” (Linker & McFadden), and “Now the Green
Blade Riseth” (McChesney). Two of these include piano with handbells ~ be sure to check them out!
With a dynamic setting of “If Thou But Suffer God to Guide Thee” we welcome
Matthew Compton to the Agape catalog. Other general hymn settings include “Wondrous Love” (Raney/Sherman), “I Want Jesus to Walk with Me” (Waldrop), “O the
Deep, Deep Love of Jesus” (Lamb) and the energy-filled “Contemplation & Dance on
‘Kingsfold’” (Morris).

This setting of the hymn tune LOBE DEN HERREN captures the exuberant adoration expressed
by the text of this popular hymn. It should be played with great energy and excitement to bring
forth the praise contained in each stanza. The subdued second verse uses softer dynamics and
mallets, and the partial third stanza employs chimes, providing a change of mood from the opening. A meter change, key change and quickened tempo combine to provide a vivid contrast, and
bring the piece to its triumphant conclusion.

of this lovely Natalie Sleeth tune. The introduction features bells and piano antiphonally. Handchimes introduce the hymn
melody with quiet accompaniment. The second verse has more motion with the hymn melody in octaves. The antiphonal
theme returns and leads into “Amazing Grace” with chimes on the melody. After a modulation to C major, the final statement of “Hymn of Promise” returns as a handbell solo and crescendos with piano to a brilliant climax.
