When the time had come, Mary and Joseph brought Jesus to the temple, dedicated him to God, and
offered gifts to God in thanksgiving and praise. In honor of that ancient tradition, we come to this
time of offering, dedicating ourselves to God and offering our own gifts of thanksgiving and praise.

Gracious God, thank you for these gifts and for the gift of your Son. As we offer you these gifts, we
also offer you our very lives. Bless these gifts, that they may be signs of your redemption and your
hope to a world in need. Bless our lives, that we may shine with your glory, and light up the world
with your love. In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.

Just When We Truly
Needed Peace
Words by Mary Kay Beall
Music by John Carter
Just when we truly needed peace,
When our hearts were lost and
forlorn,
Just when we needed comfort and
calm, the Son of God was born.
Just when we truly needed hope,
When our hearts were weary and
worn,
Just when we needed a light in the
dark, the Son of God was born.
Just when we needed a song to sing,
Just when we needed a sign,
God sent us a child, a newborn King,
a tender gift divine.
Just when we truly needed joy,
When our hearts were trembling
and torn,
Just when we needed to see a new
star, the Son of God was born.
