A singularly beautiful city Edinburgh’s
medieval Old Town and its neoclassical
New Town are protected as UNESCO
World Heritage Centres. It’s the
juxtaposition of these two different
structures – each with its own
exceptional historical significance and
their contrasting architectural styles
which makes Edinburgh’s cityscape
arresting and unique.

Many people have the impression
that Edinburgh is a cold and wet
place. In fact, Edinburgh has less
annual rainfall than New York and
Rome, and has a varied, temperate
climate, just a degree or two cooler
than London. In the winter, snow is
rare and the temperature rarely dips
below freezing during the day. In the
summertime temperatures are between
18–24°C/65–75°F.
Travel in Europe
Edinburgh is an ideal base from which
to explore Scotland, the rest of the UK
and other cultural capitals of Europe.
You can escape to Loch Ness, Loch
Lomond or the Isle of Skye in just a few
hours by train or car, or take advantage
of cheap, direct lights to European
cities.

world-leading university that is
globally recognised for its teaching,
research and innovation:

I am so grateful that
I got this experience
to work in the Scottish
Parliament. You are so
close to real politics.
I drafted 3 speeches,
submitted work in
the MSP’s name and
researched things
that he then relayed
in chamber. I am
very happy with my
experience. Scotland is
an amazing place, and I
will definitely be back.
