Family News & Notes
“Marriage Matters”
Sunday, February 1—Wednesday, February 4
OUR ILL—Jennifer Jowers’ grandmother was admitted to the hospital on
New Year’s day with pneumonia & was released Sunday. Though she is still
very weak, she is doing much better. Her grandfather, who was in the hospital at Christmas, is also doing better now. Meagan Moore Jones
(daughter of Monte & Ladana) saw a thyroid specialist Tuesday & is scheduled to have a biopsy done on her thyroid on the 20th of this month. Please
continue to pray for Red & Kendaleen Moore, Leroy & Betty Jeter, Lee
& Paula Martin, Dan & Bobbie Day, Henry Norman, Jimmy & Elaine
Rodgers, Hunter Hillock, and Jed & Jessica Foster (Nancy Faught’s
grandson & his wife) & their unborn twin babies.
We are very excited to announce that beginning Sunday, February 1st – Wednesday, February 4th, the very popular & well known
marriage experts, Dr. Jerry & Lynn Jones, who travel nation-wide,
will be hosting a “Marriage Matters” seminar here at our church.
One of our greatest challenges as a nation and culture is preserving the integrity and unity of the home. Many individuals have
good intentions but lack the skills and determination necessary to
keep a family intact. Using God-centeredness and sound psychological advice as the foundation, Marriage Matters is a 13 session
nationally recognized conference that practically addresses how to
maintain a marriage through the decades. Each session will explore
some of the complex issues and emotions surrounding relationships
and will explain in a very down-to-earth manner the solutions to
counter them.
SYMPATHY—We are in sympathy with Eddie & Carrie Day over the passing
of Carrie’s grandfather, John Gist, of Post, December 20th. His funeral was
conducted in Post on the 23rd.
We are also in sympathy with Brian & Amber McClure (Alan & Pam Berryhill’s
son-in-law & daughter) over the passing of Brian’s grandfather, Cletus Floyd,
Sunday. His funeral service was conducted Tuesday at First Baptist Church
Activity Center in Brownfield.
Both professional educators and dynamic communicators, Jerry
and Lynn Jones have conducted over 400 conferences and have
spoken to thousands of people in 43 states and five foreign countries. They are guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and truthfully
evaluate yourself and your family relationships.
Be sure to mark these dates on your calendar as you will not
want to miss this! Brochures are available on the glass table in the
Welcome Center.

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We’ve had a number of people sick. Andy Rodriguez asked the elders to
pray for his niece and nephew, Avaree and Riley Flores, who had the flu. April
Flores was also sick with strep throat. Jennifer Jowers’ grandfather, Burly
Bigham, was admitted to CCU at Covenant with pneumonia. Pray for Meagan
Moore Jones; she is seeing a thyroid specialist. Monte Moore has been ill with
possible pneumonia but is now doing better. Henry Norman was admitted to
BRMC last week and is now home. Darla Dennis’ father, Pat Privett, has been
seriously ill in North Carolina! Dan and Bobbie Day are not doing well. The Ryan
family all had the flu during the holidays. Jose, Tasia, & Gracey had the flu during
this time as well. We are in sympathy with Carrie Day over the passing of her
grandfather, John Gist of Post.

I don’t know the author of the beautiful poem “A HOME WHERE CHILDREN
LIVE.”
You may not find things all in place, Friend, when you enter here,
But, we’re a home where children live, We hold them very dear.
And you may find small fingerprints, And smudges on the wall.
When the kids are gone, We’ll clean them up; right now we’re playing ball.
For there’s one thing of which we’re sure, These children are on loan.
One day they’re always underfoot, Next thing you know they’re gone.
That’s when we’ll have a spotless house, When they’re off on their own.
Right now, this is where children live: A loving, lived in home.
From him the whole body, joined and held
together by every supporting ligament,
grows and builds itself up in love,
as each part does its work.
