2012 Junior Division Day
and Awards Ceremony Held
The annual Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas - K.J.Z.T. Junior Division Day and Awards Ceremony was held on
Saturday, July 21st at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Needville, Texas. The hosting society was The Assumption
Society No. 49 Needville.
Coronation Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Michael’s Parish celebrated by Rev. Joseph Hybner, the Fraternal's own State Chaplain. Mrs. Anne Wick, State Co-Ordinator of Junior Activities, welcomed everyone to the Royal
Coronation Ceremony. Mrs. Loretta Stahl, State President, introduced the State Officers and State Directors present.
Mrs. Stahl also thanked the Hosting Society, parents and Junior Directors. Then, all of the Juniors joined together to
recite the Junior Pledge. This was led by the 2011 State King Luke Morris of Society No. 85 Damon and 2011 State
Queen Lindsay Morris of Society No. 85 Damon. Mrs. Wick introduced all of the Junior Directors and assistants
and thanked them all for their hard work. She acknowledged that the Junior Division wouldn't be possible without
the support it receives from Junior Directors, parents, grandparents and volunteers.
The new 2012 State Royalty was then announced!
State King was awarded to Caleb Tomek of Society No. 21 Marak.
State Queen was awarded to Sara Wleczyk of Society No. 85 Damon.
State Junior King was awarded to Jacob Webb of Society No. 49 Needville.
State Junior Queen was awarded to Jailyn Webb of Society No. 49 Needville.

The 1st Runner-Up to the King for 2012 was awarded to Aaron Laurence of Society No. 21 Marak. The 2nd
Runner-Up to the King was awarded to Ethan Krumnow of Society No. 21 Marak. The 1st Runner-Up to the Queen
was awarded to Jacinda Webb of Society No. 49 Needville. The 2nd Runner-Up to the Queen was awarded to Kylie

Queen was awarded to Erin Tomek of Society No. 21 Marak. Congratulations to all the 1st and 2nd Runners Up to
the Junior King and Junior Queen.
The Dukes, Duchesses, Princes and Princesses were all given gifts for their achievements. All royalty titles were
well-deserved as all Junior members work hard during the year on parish projects, community projects, crafts, religious activities and having fun! Mrs. Wick then announced the 2011 Junior Division Craft and Scrapbook winners.
With the conclusion of the ceremony, the members and guests enjoyed a meal consisting of BBQ sandwiches, chips,
ice cream sundaes and cookies.
A thank you is extended to the Board of Directors, State Officers, State Staff, Junior Directors and Hosting Society
No. 49 Needville for making the event a big success. “Thank you also to everyone who attended and for their dedication and interest in the Fraternal. It is greatly appreciated. Please keep up the good work”, said Mrs. Anne Wick,
Junior Co-Ordinator of Junior Activities.

Congratulations to all of the Junior Members who received awards for their participation in the
Point and Merit System during the Awards Day Ceremony. These Juniors participated in many
activities throughout the year including local meetings, District Meeting activities, volunteer
programs and other events to gather as many points as possible. They are recognized on the
number of points they have accumulated during the year. We offer our appreciation to the Junior
Directors for the many hours of dedication given to the Junior Division Program.
Our “Welcome to the Family” Program is still underway and we look forward to receiving your
recommendations for members. Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas-K.J.Z.T. must strive to
increase our Membership, making our Fraternal stronger and more viable. Each referral sent in
will be contacted in a timely manner by an agent to explain the programs and benefits of membership within the Fraternal. Thank you and congratulations to the Societies who have attained
the goals set for them, for this program. If you have any questions or need assistance, please call
the State Office. We will be happy to assist you.
Thank you for sending in the great news articles and pictures. It is very exciting to hear all the
wonderful events the Societies are sponsoring and participating in.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for ensuring a full range of administrative and office functions are provided in a timely, accurate and efficient manner for the President’s Office and the Fraternal.
Must have a high level of interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional
manner and must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively
when dealing with members and staff. Responsibilities include preparing correspondence, announcements, presentations and general office duties including filing, copying, and mailings. High School
diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of administrative experience in an office setting. Some college preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. K.J.Z.T. offers an excellent salary and benefits package.

The District XV Meeting will take place at the Golden
Corral located at 6200 Seawall Blvd. in Galveston. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. followed by the meeting and a
meal. All society members in the area are invited!

The Czech ExStudents Association and Blinn College
at Schulenburg are pleased to announce Conversational
Czech Classes at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels. Classes will begin September 18th. Bryan
and Sealy Campuses will also be able to participate. Preregistration is required. Call 979-743-5237 for more

Society No. 40 Poth will hold a bake sale at the Parish
Hall benefitting the Poth Volunteer Fire Department.

Society No. 72 El Campo will host their Annual Social
and Meeting at the new Parish Center at 6:30 p.m.

Society No. 130 Georgetown will co-sponsor the Fall
Festival Kolache Bake with the Kolache Club of St. Helen’s. Proceeds will benefit St. Helen’s.

Have you heard what our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI is going to do? He has proclaimed a
very special time for all Catholics, “The Year of Faith.” The Year of Faith beginning October 11,
2012 and concluding on November 24, 2013, the Feast of Christ the King.
The Year of Faith coincides with the anniversaries of two great events that have marked the life
of the Church: the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Catechism of the Catholic Church?
WHY THE FOCUS ON FAITH
What could be more important than our Faith? It is the foundation of who we are as Catholic Christians and a gracious gift from God. Yet, in our world of today, we are increasingly vulnerable to
secular movements that pull us away from our relationship with God.
Pope Benedict has worked to gather God’s people into a fuller communion with one another and
with the Risen Lord. This Year of Faith will be a time for us to renew our personal relationship with
Jesus and recommit ourselves to the Church. We are called to give ourselves more fully to God by
professing our faith in Jesus Christ, and this faith is expressed when we profess the Creed.

The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith shares these words:
“The Year of Faith is intended to contribute to a renewal conversion to the Lord Jesus and to the
rediscovery of faith, so that the members of the Church will be credible and joy-filled witnesses
to the Risen Lord in the world of today; capable of leading those many people who are seeking it
to the “door of faith”.
In his Apostolic Letter of 2011, Porta Fidei, Pope Benedict writes, “Faith grows when it is lived as
an experience of love received and when it is communicated as an experience of grace and joy. It
makes it fruitful because it expands our hearts in hope and enables us to bear life – giving witness,
it opens the hearts and minds of those who listen to respond to the Lord’s invitation to adhere to
his word and become his disciples.”
The fruits of this Year of Faith will be seen in a strengthened commitment to God and one another.
When we reach out in compassion to help a neighbor in need, we are bearing witness; when we
speak out boldly in favor of Jesus in our moral life, we bear witness. Every time we celebrate and
receive the Holy Eucharist, we will be transformed to go forth to live as true disciples.
We are invited to rediscover our faith and become “credible and joy-filled witnesses to the Risen
Lord in the world today.”
So, let us open our hearts and minds to THE YEAR OF FAITH. Peace, Love and Joy!

An Election Prayer
to Mary
O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at

Oh, Father, You sent Your Eternal Son to save the world and chose men and
women, through Him, with Him and in Him, to proclaim the Good News to all
nations. Grant us the graces necessary so that joy may shine in the faces of all
young people, the joy of being, by the power of the Holy Spirit, the evangelists
the Church needs in the Third Millennium.
Oh Christ, Redeemer of humanity, the image of Your open arms on the top of
Corcovado welcomes all people. In Your paschal offering, You brought us by
the Holy Spirit to an encounter of sonship with the Father. Young people, who
are fed by Eucharist, hear You in Your Word and meet You as their brother, need
your infinite mercy to run the paths of the world missionary-disciples of the
New Evangelization.
Oh Holy Spirit, Love of the Father and the Son, with the splendor of Your Truth
and the fire of Your Love, send Your Light to all young people so that, driven
by their experience of World Youth Day, they may bring to the four corners of
the world faith, hope and charity, becoming great builders of a culture of life
and peace and catalysts of a new world. Amen!

Recently the Juniors of the Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas – K.J.Z.T. participated in two State Junior Division activities. Both activities were beautiful
and successful in their own way.
The first activity was Camp Guardian Angel which was held at Cooper Farms
in Ledbetter on June 23rd thru June 27th. The other activity was the State Junior Division Day and Awards Ceremony which was held on Saturday, July
21, 2012, at St. Michael Parish in Needville, Texas hosted by The Assumption
Society No. 49, also of Needville.
Camp was filled with a lot of spiritual and fun activities. Activities such as Daily
Holy Mass celebrated by our State Chaplain Father Joe Hybner and Flag Raising Ceremonies along with morning prayer led by different groups each day.
Some of the other activities the juniors got to do at camp included swimming,
low and high ropes course, kolache baking taught by Yvette Hoffmann, various
types of crafts, blobbing archery, a hayride and many other activities.
This was my 17th year to organize camp. It was also one of the highest attended
camps during this time.
We had 136 juniors and 39 adult counselors from around the state attending.
Everyone had a very fun and exciting time at Cooper Farms. A Big thank you
goes to John Hoelscher and his staff for another wonderful experience.
As previously mentioned, we also had our State Junior Division Day and Awards
Ceremony. This was another successful event for our Juniors. We had a great
day again beginning with Holy Mass, presentation of awards, and a meal followed by fun and fellowship.
At this wonderful event we crowned our 2012 Catholic Family Fraternal of
Texas – K.J.Z.T. Royalty and presented awards to juniors who have participated
in the Point and Merit Program throughout the year of 2011.
A big Congratulations goes out to everyone and a very special Thank You to
the Needville Society for hosting this event. Also, thank you to everyone who
attended and for their dedication and interest in the fraternal. It is greatly appreciated.
Please keep up the good work. I hope to see you around at one of our next
events.

Mical Ann Maxwell of La Grange graduated with academic
honors – Magna Cum Laude from Concordia University of
Texas. Commencement exercises were held at the Riverbend
Centre in Austin on Saturday, April 28, 2012 where Ms.
Maxwell was presented with her Bachelor of Science Degree
in Nursing.
The Pinning Ceremony of the first graduating class for the
Bachelor of Science in Nursing took place on Friday evening, April 27, 2012 at the Concordia University Texas Auditorium with the welcome and remarks given by Thomas
Cedel, Ph.D., University President.
Mical transferred to Concordia University in 2010 after two
years at the University of Texas. In the fall of 2010 and 2011
she was a cheerleader for the Concordia Tornados.
Mical was a 2008 honor graduate of La Grange High School.
She has accepted employment at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center as a registered nurse.
Mical Ann is the daughter of Mike and Melissa Maxwell, and the granddaughter of Lawrence
and Stacy Ryza and George and Ann Maxwell, all of La Grange.

Brothers, Zane and Matthias Litzmann, of Sealy,
have concluded another award-winning year of accomplishments. Both Zane and Matthias are in their
3rd year of private piano studies and continue to excel in this area.
Zane has concluded his sophomore year at Sealy
High School. Zane has been on the All-A Honor Roll
every six weeks and is enrolled in pre-AP/AP courses.
For the second year, Zane is First Chair Symphonic
Band of the Sealy Tiger Band and Pit Captain during
Marching season. In November of 2011, Zane was
named to the ATSSB Region 7 High School Honor
Band and also qualified for Texas Area Band as well.

Zane is the Historian of the German Club and is a staff member of the Sealy High School
Yearbook. This year Zane was a member of the UIL Journalism team. During this school year,
Zane also became a Certified Lifeguard with the YMCA and is employed as a Lifeguard at the
new Sealy City Pool which opened May 31, 2012.
Matthias Litzmann also concluded an award winning 6th grade year at Sealy Junior High.
Matthias has been on the All-A Honor Roll every six weeks and is enrolled in all honors
courses. Matthias is a member of the 6th grade Sealy Junior High Band as a member of the
Percussion section. Matthias scored a Division One on a Xylophone Solo at the May Music
Fest sponsored by the Sealy Band. Matthias also participated in UIL as part of the Social Studies Team and placed 3rd in District competition. Matthias is a successful gardener in his spare
time when he is not practicing the piano or percussion.

2 c. sugar
4 eggs
6 tbsp. baking cocoa
1 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. salt
1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow cream
1 c. creamy peanut butter
2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
3 c. crisp rice cereal
Cream butter and sugar; add eggs.
Stir in cocoa, flour, vanilla and salt.
Spread into greased 9x13 inch pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or
until brownies test done. Cool. Spread
marshmallow cream over cooled
brownies. In a small saucepan, melt
peanut butter and chocolate chips over
low heat, stirring constantly. Remove
from heat, stir in cereal and spread
over marshmallow layer. Chill before
cutting. Store in refrigerator.

Tremor

What is a tremor?
A tremor is twitching or shaking of a body part that you can’t control. Most
tremors affect the hand, but they can also happen in the arm, head, leg and
even voice. They are more common in middle-aged and older adults, but they
can happen at any age. Some tremors are barely noticeable, and some are more
severe and may make it hard to write or hold things.
There are different types of tremors. A rest tremor happens when the body is
relaxed. An action tremor happens while you are moving a part of your body. A
postural tremor happens when your arm or leg is held against gravity (for example, holding your arms outstretched). A kinetic or intention tremor happens
when you are trying to do a task (for example, drawing or pouring a drink). It is
important for you to find out what type of tremor you have.
What causes it?
Anyone can have a tremor in certain situations. For example, you might have a
tremor if you are very tired, nervous, drink caffeine, or are doing certain movements (for example, threading a needle). Most tremors happen in people who are
otherwise healthy, but a tremor can sometimes be a sign of a health problem.
Certain medicines, including corticosteroids, amphetamines, and psychiatric
drugs, can cause tremors. Anxiety and other psychological problems, an overactive thyroid, alcohol abuse or withdrawal, stroke or head injuries, and Wilson
disease (a rare liver disease) can also cause tremors. Parkinson disease causes a
resting tremor, and is most common in older adults. Some tremors run in families, and some have no known cause.
How do I find out what is causing it?
Your doctor will ask you about your tremor, your use of alcohol and medicines, and your family health history. He or she may examine you to assess
your strength, sensory function (for example, sight, smell, touch), reflexes, and
balance. Doctors can usually figure out what is causing your tremor by asking
questions and examining you. Sometimes, a test for blood sugar level, kidney
function, or liver function is needed. Rarely, a scan of your head may also be

Fraternal 100 Project
Giving Back!
The Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas – K.J.Z.T. adopted a statewide Fraternal 100 Project, recognizing each of the 65 124 Texas City
Diamond Status Societies and 3 Ruby Status Societies. The Fraternal 100 Project provided $100 from the State Office to St. Vincent De Paul
each 2011 Status Society to be given to the charity of their choice. The purpose behind the Fraternal Project is to promote
fellowship.
Each year societies of Catholic Family Fraternal of Texas – K.J.Z.T. focus on participating in parish and community
work projects and fundraisers throughout the State. During 2011, our members donated 119,449 volunteer hours and
participated in 751 events.
Societies awarded with a status work hard all year long because their members believe in helping those in need and
working together to make their hometowns and churches stronger and safer places to enjoy life.

History of the festival
Rev. Dmytro Blazejovskyj came to the U.S. in 1946 to organize Ukrainian
Catholic Churches, mostly in the West. In 1957 he became the pastor of St. Pius
X Ukrainian Catholic Church in Houston. He served there until 1973, when he
was transferred to the Vatican as Church Historian. He is the author of numerous

books and articles. Today, this Ukrainian Catholic Church has been renamed
St. Helen Catholic School Library
Protection of the Mother of God. While serving in Houston, Rev. Blazejowskyi
became well known to his Slavic brothers and sisters. In the absence of a polishspeaking priest, the Polish parishioners of Christ The King Catholic Church requested the services of Rev. Blazejowskyi.
In 1963, The 1100th anniversary of Sts. Cyril and Methodius was being celebrated by many national groups in the United
States. All these celebrations were done by individual groups. As a historian, Rev. Blazejowskyi saw a need for a united
rather than divided celebration. He devised a plan and discussed it with the leaders of his Ukrainian parish. All three languages were represented in the celebration of the Mass that has become an integral part of the Festival. Bishop Morkowsky
was approached to give the sermon in Czech and take part in the celebration. From that day forward Bishop Morkovsky
attended the Slavic Festivals. He would go from booth to booth to visit with everyone. The original three groups in time

Juniors participated in the Vacation Bible School held in Hostyn
July 9th – 13th. Katy Harman was in the 6th grade
group, “The Purple Meteors”. Bethany Kallus was an
aid to the Pre-K group. They all prayed, sang songs,
watched a DVD about “Trusting God”, danced to
music, worked on crafts, played games, had snack
time and did skits. They also read a bible verse and
learned about a new Saint of the Day and reported
on God Sightings each day.

Society
News
The society held a meeting on June
10, 2012 in the K.J.T. auditorium
dining room. Vice-President Elsie Marak opened the
meeting and the junior members joined in prayers
for sick members. The juniors were then dismissed
to their meeting room.
Secretary Alene Eggers read the minutes from the
April 19, 2012 meeting. Dorothy Prachyl made a
motion to accept the minutes as read and Dolores
Liska seconded the motion.
Treasurer Debbie Vitovsky gave a financial report.
Mrs. Marak gave the Cheer Committee report. Eight
Mass enrollment cards were sent to 8 sick members and the families of deceased members Adele
Janousek, Cecilia Blazek and Leslie Trojacek. She
also gave a report on the District Meeting which was
held in Dallas, hosted by Society No. 108 Dallas.
Society No. 16 Ennis will be the host society next
year.
Vice-President Marak updated members on the
purchase of a new society banner. An order has been
placed and the banner should be delivered in August.
An invitation was extended to the Junior Division
Awards Ceremony in July, and a reminder to enroll children interested in attending Junior Camp in
June.
The Fraternal 100 Project recipient will be the parish Vacation Bible School. The $100 donation will
be presented to the Children’s Education Director.
The society’s community project this year is the
St. Joseph Cemetery in Ennis. Letters requesting
donations will be sent to all society members. The
donations can be mailed or brought to the Annual
Celebration.
Mrs. Marak explained the ongoing membership
drive and encourage members to refer names of prospective new members to local sales agents.
The highlight of the meeting was the presentation
of notification of scholarship awards to junior members. The recipients present were Breanna Calvert,
Kayla Cervantes, Brittany Cox, Matthew Matous,
Corey Mikula, Madeline Prachyl and Nolan Vrana.

The District I Meeting was held on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Sts.
Cyril and Methodius Parish Hall in Shiner, Texas. The Nativity of the
Blessed Virgin Mary Society No. 5 Shiner hosted the meeting.
Registration began at 11:30 a.m. with State Director and Society No. 5
President Mary Ann Marek and Society No. 5 Vice-President Viola Muelker welcoming the members and guests upon their arrival.
Society No. 5 began the event with Father Kirby Hlavaty leading the prayer. The memorial service began with Mary Ann Marek leading the service with prayers for the thirty-eight deceased members and announced each member’s name and date of death. As
the names were read the Juniors brought forward a rose for each deceased member and
handed it to Anne Wick, State Coordinator of Junior Activities. Mrs. Wick then placed
the flower in a vase in their memory.

She also congratulated all the pin recipients. Mrs. Stahl spoke of the importance of recruiting new members and keeping the charity status by helping others.
State Office Sales Associate John McDermott gave a talk about communication and
how important it is to go out and tell of the activities of the societies. With 38 members
passing away, the district needs to replace them with new members.
No other business was undertaken. The meeting was adjourned with closing prayers

The meeting was called to order by Dallas Society No. 108 President Estelle Smith followed by an opening prayer read by Dorothy
Schroeder. Estelle then welcomed all the members for coming to the
meeting and introduced our guests from Home Office which included
State Secretary Pam Strickland, State Co-Ordinator of Junior Activities Anne Wick and Sales and Marketing Manager Jim Weist. She also
introduced State Director Joan Johnson who is currently the State Director of District
X and introduced the current hosting officers of the Dallas society.
A memorial service was conducted for all deceased members whereby all the names
of the members who died within the last year were read by Lillian Honza and as the
names were read the juniors put a white rose in a vase at the feet of the Blessed Virgin
Mary honoring the deceased member. Joan Johnson said the memorial prayer following the ceremony.

products offered by Catholic Family Fraternal as well as announcing the membership
drive encouraging all members, including juniors to recommend new members to
the organization. He also mentioned the incentives of recommending new members
where by anyone could win a trip to Las Vegas, Gift Cards and a Family Disney Trip.
The more people you recommend the greater your chances are of winning a prize.
The minutes of the previous meeting were not read due to them being printed in the
newspaper but a motion was made the minutes stand approved as written and seconded.
The next District X meeting is scheduled to be hosted by Ennis Society No. 16.
Pam Strickland thanked the Dallas Society for hosting this meeting and presented
Estelle with a check from Home Office to defray the cost of the meeting. She mentioned a new State Treasurer, Carrie Janecek, was appointed and they were very excited she has joined their organization.

Mrs. Anne Wick spoke briefly on the trip to camp that the Juniors attended.
They all had a great time. She encouraged the members to enroll their juniors to
join the youth group.
Mr. Jim Wiest had a brief program on Sales and Marketing. He also congratulated the juniors on their projects. There was a contest at Camp and some were
rewarded with prizes.
A Memorial Service was held for all deceased members of the past year. The
junior members from Damon, Needville and Wallis were each given a carnation
which they placed in a vase on the Blessed Mother’s Altar. Thirty members had
died in the District since the last meeting.
The juniors held a program of patriotic songs after which they were dismissed
to an adjoining room where they enjoyed doing arts and crafts. Each junior was

given a kite, compliments of the local kite factory.
Roll call was held. Those present were: Society No. 22 Wallis with 22, Society
No. 29 Frydek with 6, Society No. 30 East Bernard with 28, Society No. 42
Sealy with 5, Society No. 49 Needville with 9, Society No. 77 Rosenberg with
8, Society No. 85 Damon with 12 and Society No. 120 Sugarland with 5. There
were 95 members and guests that were registered.
The reading of last year’s district meeting minutes was held. They were read
by Secretary Angeline Grigar and they were approved.
Society No. 29 Frydek was selected to be the next society to host the District
Meeting in 2013.
Messages were presented by State President Loretta Stahl and State Director
Arlene Cloyd. They congratulated all societies for doing a good job and to keep
up the good work.
Diamond status awards were presented to Presidents of all the societies in the
District. Mrs. Cloyd congratulated everyone for earning the Diamond Status and
pictures were taken.
75-Year Membership Pins and 50-Year Membership Pins were presented to the
deserving members. If those awarded were not present, the pins will be mailed
to them from the State Office. Pictures were taken of all those present.
Father Don said the closing prayer for World Peace and the Memorare. He also
ended with a joke. The prayer before the meal was recited.
Drawing of door prizes was held. Afterwards, the Pledge of Allegiance was
recited.
A light lunch was prepared and served by the hosting society. It consisted of a
variety of salads, assorted crackers and an assortment of pastries with coffee, tea
and kool-aid. The meeting was enjoyed by all.

Society No. 34 Hobson Celebrates
100-Year Anniversary
Society No. 34 Hobson met for their annual social meeting on Saturday evening June 30, 2012 at the Hobson Church Hall following a
Mass offered for the members in celebration of the society’s 100th Anniversary. President Rita Kroll called the meeting to order and welcomed all the members, their guests and State Officers and Directors. The social was a combined fund raiser for our People Helping People
projects, which included support for Sister Rebecca Janacek’s Africa Mission and assist with the purchase of a new fire truck for the Falls
City Community. Members and guests were asked to participate in a Silent Auction and provide donations for both of these projects. Rita
asked the pastor of St. Boniface Parish to lead us in the blessing for the meal. Following the delicious meal Rita reminded everyone we
are celebrating our 100th Anniversary as a society and pointed out the banner handed down by our early members and pictures of some of
the first society members. State Officers President Loretta Stahl, State Secretary Pam Strickland, State Treasurer Carrie Janecek, State
Director Grace Vinklarek, State Director Deborah Kasper, State Director Arlene Cloyd, and Karnes County Commissioner Pete Jauer and
his wife Linda were introduced by Rita. Rita informed the members and guests any donations or funds raised for our projects would be
matched up to $1,000 by the State Office. Rita then introduced our guest speaker Sister Rebecca Janacek who shared updates on her work
in Rotu East Africa and the Pokut Medical Mission Project. Rebecca shared a DVD presentation with pictures of the progress in establishing the medical clinic serving the people of that community. Sister Rebecca answered questions from the audience following the presentation.
The following members were recognized and awarded pins for 75 and 50 years as members:

State President Loretta Stahl congratulated the society on their 100th
anniversary, and pointed out that the KJZT started in a small town,
and has grown to a very successful organization. She thanked Sister
Rebecca for her dedication to her work and the letters she submits to
the Journal. She reported that the State Board of Directors will be
donating $500 to Sister Rebecca’s Medical Mission. Mrs. Stahl also
presented the society with a check to celebrate the 100th anniversary. Door prizes were given out to those attending, and the Silent
Auction was closed. At the end of the evening we had raised $3,849
for our People Helping People Projects. The evening ended with
visiting.
