Welcome from the MTNA South Central Division Director
As Director of the South Central Division of MTNA, it is my privilege to
welcome our students, teachers, accompanists and families to the 2015
MTNA South Central Division Competitions. Congratulations to all of you
on your performances, thus far. Good luck to all of you throughout this
competition.
We are very grateful to the University of Tulsa for the use of its fine
facilities. Thank you to Dr. Roger Price, Professor of Music at the
University of Tulsa and the local chair. He has been assisted by Ms. Ana
Shelton, the Administrative Assistant at the University of Tulsa and Dr.
Stuart Deaver, from the University of Tulsa music faculty. The school’s
music professional organizations, Sigma Alpha Iota and Phi Mu Alpha will
be serving in various capacities during the competitions. Special thanks to
Gloria Johnson and Karen Harrington who are members of Tulsa Music
Teachers Association, for helping with the details. Also, thank you to
Mary Sallee, Immediate Past Director of South Central Division, for helping
secure the site.
We have a strong team of volunteer leaders whose dedicated work makes
this event possible. Our competitions coordinator is Dr. Lauren SchackClark, Professor of Music at Arkansas State University. Some of her
responsibilities include scheduling and securing judges. Our chairs are
Trudy Kincaid, Young Artist and Chamber Music Competitions, Sharon
Callahan, Senior Competitions, Gloria Johnson, Junior Competitions and
Dr. Scott Carrell, Composition Competitions.
All of our volunteers believe in the promotion of music study and
excellence in performance. They will do all that is necessary to insure that
you have a positive experience.
Hope you enjoy your time in Tulsa!
Sincerely,
Sharon Ard, NCTM
