From My Heart to Yours Happy New Year! 2015 has begun and with it comes new beginnings and opportunities to grow in Christ and to make Him known to our world. God’s grace is so amazing and He is so merciful to bestow on us the blessings of this past year and the new one before us. Thank you to everyone who made our Christmas celebration at FBC magnificent this year. 800 Christmas Boxes through Bland Ministry Center 95 Christmas Boxes through our Share The Bounty ministry $10, 620.00 given to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions Wonderful Christmas Cantata by our Choir on Dec. 14 th Fabulous Children’s Christmas program on the Dec. 21 st Beautiful Christmas Eve Service on the Dec. 24th Moving sermon by Craig Stout on God’s Kingdom coming on earth as it is in heaven on Dec. 28 th As we begin this New Year it is with a note of sadness as we say farewell to a member of our church staff who has become a part of our FBC family. Kathy Kestner, our Financial Secretary for almost six years, is going to be leaving to devote more time to her family and their new restaurant Savory Flavors. Kathy has been a true blessing and a Godsend. She has done an exceptional “job” as Financial Secretary, but really it has been a ministry. We have been blessed to have someone of Kathy’s skill, gifts and abilities financially, along with her caring and Christ-like spirit. We will miss Kathy greatly and pray God’s blessings upon her, her family, their restaurant and all future endeavors. Thank you Kathy and may God continue to make you a blessing in all you do. Deacon Ordination Service – Sunday 7:00 p.m. This Sunday evening we will be ordaining three of our men, Fermin Castro (Kristen), Mike Miller (Julie), Craig Stout (Jane), to serve and minister in the office of Deacon in our church family. This is special occasion for these men, their families and our church family. Following the service there will be reception in the fellowship hall. Everyone is in encouraged to attend. January Bible Study – January 25th – 28th – Deuteronomy – Dr. Shawn White. We are blessed to have with us again this year for our January Bible Study, Dr. Shawn White, Old Testament professor at Bluefield College. Shawn did an excellent ministry of teaching last year on Colossians. You will want to be involved in this study as Dr. White interprets the fourth book of the Bible, which means “second law.” The study will begin on Sunday morning and continue each evening (Sunday – Wednesday) at 6:30 p.m. 2015 is before us with many opportunities and challenges. May we walk together in the Grace of our Heavenly Father, the Love of our Lord Jesus Christ and the Power of the Holy Spirit and as the Apostle Paul urges us to walk in Ephesians 4:1-6. I love you and look forward to seeing you this Sunday. Your Pastor and friend, David W. Dockery We welcome to our church staff our new Financial Secretary, Frances Mills.
