Henry Place Tucson, AZ 85710 520-885-6630 JANUARY 2015 Email from the President The Car Nuts were out in force for the first meeting of the new year. We were back at the Cow Palace after a few months. The Cow Palace is under new management and the food, service and even the atmosphere were great. Lynn, the manager, set up for 74 people and had to put out a couple more tables so we had somewhere around 80 people, a good crowd. There were new members and prospective new members, snow birds and some who just hadn’t been there in a while. It felt good, lots of energy in the room. The upcoming 21st annual car show was discussed in detail and many responded to the call for help at the show. Thanks to all who have served and those who have taken up new leadership roles. Without all the volunteers the show couldn’t go on and you know what is said about that. After the meeting today, we got an update on the registrations and we are near 300 now. The Friday night dinner is close to being sold out and “T” shirt sales are doing very well. 2015 is starting out with a bang. The meeting will be at Coaches in February. John and Dixie Murray, Paul Johnston, Greg and Margaret Miller, and Jim and Donica Adams won trophies in their class. Jon Lundberg and Arthur Mournian joined us just to look. We all gathered for lunch at the Diner and had a good lunch and tried to guess the trivia questions. I think John went through all the answers till he got one right. We had a buffet that was great with anything you would want to eat for only $8.50 including tax and tip. I hope everyone will think of this place when going out to breakfast or dinner. I haven’t sampled the dinner yet, but it should be great if it is anything like breakfast. D.J. John will be our announcer again this year. He did a great job last year. Duane Miller will again be in charge of setting up the sound system. He has tweeked and repaired some of the equipment and hopes everything goes well. Andy Loomis will be there all day to take care of all your pinstriping needs. Roberta Rogers will have her display of art work. She designed and painted our poster for the car show. There will be two high dollar 50/50 raffles again this year at the show. There will also be a raffle at the BBQ again and the winners will be announced at the BBQ for these tickets. We will again be having the BBQ at Tubac Golf Resort. It was a huge success last year. I am sure we will have a great meal. It will be in the banquet room next to the restaurant. We are expecting over 200 people at the BBQ. Traffic control will manage to guide the cars in this year without a backup. They will be re-routed through the neighborhood when the lines get too long. It’s that time again Now is the time to start thinking about running for the Board. We need 3 new Board members to replace the three that are leaving. Plus we need another to fill Rudy Molina’s position as he is moving to Phoenix. This term will only be 2 years instead of 3. Board members leaving are: Rudy Molina.
