Purpose of Job:
The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for the overall marketing,
communications and image of the college. The Manager has responsibility for the development,
planning, implementation and reviewing of all marketing and communications policies, functions,
processes and activities. The post holder will produce a marketing plan which will provide the overall
framework for activities which will continue to develop and enhance the reputation of WMC.
We are looking for an experienced manager with a strong marketing track record and experience in
using web based and social media who can help the college reach out to a wide range of audiences
using a variety of media.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead on managing and maintaining a college-wide brand and house style and ensure its
integrity is maintained across all marketing and communications channels.

Ensure efficient and effective planning, development, organisation and running of high
quality and responsive marketing and promotional activities and events.

Develop an annual events and promotional activities calendar and ensure that the college
maximises the marketing potential of these

Be the initial contact for external events enquiries, attend events on behalf of WMC where
appropriate and record activities

Identify and manage press related activities including press releases, interviews, website
news, coverage monitoring. Ensure that a consistent and on-going communication profile for
the college is maintained.

Plan and execute termly online and offline recruitment campaigns from inception to finish
including monitoring effectiveness.

Project manage the design, planning, production and budgeting of all printed materials,
including the prospectus and all online promotion

Manage, maintain and update the current College websites (both external and staff intranet)
including design, the production of content and agreed updates. This will include the
development of a new College website

Lead and manage WMC’s social media marketing including creating engaging content,
optimising and monitoring any marketing campaigns carried out on them (Facebook, Twitter,
Pinterest, etc…)

Manage the College’s presence and accounts on various digital marketing platforms used by
the marketing function (Google Analytics, Adwords, Mailchimp, Event Brite, etc…)

Take responsibility for collecting and editing on a regular basis a bank of case studies of
current and former students for use in promotional including photo shoots where necessary

Write and distribute WMC’s bi-monthly digital promotional newsletter

Plan and manage internal promotional activities related to student recruitment and events
including managing content on digital boards and the production and distribution of fliers
across sites

Manage and maintain the College’s contact database

Manage the College’s presence on Hotcourses and on all relevant online and printed
directories

Manage external designers and services providers

Manage the marketing budget, monitor and record expenditure and ensure the effective and
efficient deployment of resources.

Collate and maintain statistical and qualitative data relating to the Camden area and its
communities which will provide evidence for the development of courses

Ensure that appropriate records of the efficiency and effectiveness of the marketing and
communications function are maintained for use by relevant staff.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
To work outside of office hours as required to meet the needs of the college and the Marketing and
communications role.

Participate fully in management team meetings, activities and responsibilities to ensure the
welfare of College learners and the continued development of the College

Participate in management team rotas, including acting as Duty Manager for the College on
a periodic basis on weekdays, evenings or Saturdays in term-time

Exemplify and promote safeguarding, equality of opportunity and diversity through personal
behaviours and standards at all times

Participate in the College staff development and appraisal review schemes

Comply with and promote College health and safety policies and procedures

Any other task reasonably requested of the postholder, compatible with the role.
The post involves working with young people and vulnerable adults and consequently is subject to a
satisfactory enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
