Emergency Department 7AM to 11 PM daily.

In-Patient Unit

•A 25-bed unit for acute psychiatric stabilization
and treatment.
•Multidisciplinary staff provides individual and
family meetings.
•Various Group Programs offered during the day
as well as Family Support and Information Night.
Central Intake

•Referrals are accepted through Central Intake
from family physicians, other health professionals
as well as from individuals, family and/or
significant others.
•Referrals are screened daily and will typically
require 2-3 days for processing.
Assertive Case Management (ACM)

•This team offers intensive case management
for individuals experiencing a serious and
persistent mental illness that causes significant
and enduring functional disabilities.
•The team aims to prevent re-hospitalization
through enhancement of community support
services, advocacy, education, social,
recreational, housing, and other personal needs.
Adult Community Support Services (ACSS)

•Serves primarily individuals who are
experiencing major mental illness requiring
longer-term case management in the
community.
•Assists in achieving and maintaining necessities
such as adequate housing, nutrition, financial
resources, medical and psychosocial care.

•Provides adult short term assessment and
treatment for mental health issues.
•Program consists of individual counselling,
Perinatal Depression and Concurrent Disorders.
•Program provides specific interventions,
including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to deal
with acute mental health issues.

•Clients are assessed by a clinician and may
receive brief solution focused one-to-one and/
or psychiatric consultations.
•Services include individual and group therapy.
•Some of the groups are Rapid Access,
Depression, Anxiety, and Family Support.

•A Concurrent Disorder Therapist provides
consultations, education, treatment, planning,
referral services, support groups and counselling
to individuals who experience difficulties with
both mental illnesses and addictions.
•Family members of Concurrent Disorders clients
are welcome as well.

•Works with older adults 65+ who experience
depression, anxiety, memory problems,
behavioral changes and disturbed thoughts.
•Works in partnership with caregivers and
service providers to enhance quality of life,
improved level of functioning and promote
emotional well-being.

•Outpatient clinic
•Services clients 12 years old to 65+ in Burnaby
and surrounding areas who are experiencing
difficulties related to substance use.
•Services include information, referral,
assessment, individual and group counselling,
tailored treatment to the needs and goals of
each client, while respecting diversity.

•Outreach services available for youth and
older adults.
•People affected by another person’s
substance use are also welcome.

•Offers a range of healthcare services to
individuals with substance use and mental
health issues.
•Patients access the clinic in order to stay
healthy, get better and manage ongoing
medical and chronic conditions.
Community Residential Program

•Program offers assistance to Burnaby Mental
Health clients as they learn the skills to live
independently.
•Provides a continuum of support ranging from
24-hour licensed care facilities to support and
rehabilitation for clients living in their own
apartments.
•Referrals to this program must come through
the Community Mental Health Teams.

•A wide range of specialized rehabilitation
services offered through in-patient unit and in
the community.
•Focus on the areas of personal life, education,
