Mark’s version of the call of the disciples is
preceded by Jesus’ invitation to repentance.
Indeed, our first reading from the book of
Jonah is about repentance as well. The people
of Nineveh hear God’s call to repentance, and
respond accordingly. As we listen to these
readings today, perhaps the message is that
discipleship and repentance, turning around our
lives, go hand in hand. How would that work
in your own life?
The Good Shepherd Music Series presents
the Yahara String Quartet on Friday, February
6 at 7:00 p.m. at our Saint James site: 1128
Saint James Court, Madison. The quartet
performs a wide variety of repertoire including
classical, jazz and ragtime. The program is
open to all with a free-will offering and
refreshments afterwards in the church hall.
