NOON DISMISSAL – Tomorrow will be a noon dismissal for parent/teacher
conferences. The Extended School Program will be available. Please let Mrs. Brennan
know if you plan on using the program and don’t forget to pack a lunch.
SCHOOL CLOSED – In honor of Presidents’ Day school will be closed on Monday,
February 16th.
IMPORTANT TAX NOTICE – We have been advised by a CPA that tuition is not tax
deductible. For this reason we do not send out tuition tax statements. If you wish a tax
letter you must notify Mrs. Reiff in writing. Payments to the Extended School Program
can be considered deductible. Tax statements for the Program were sent out at the end
of January.
REGISTRATION ALERT- We are currently accepting registrations for the 2015-2016
school year. This financial commitment holds a place for your child in next year’s
class. The registration fee is $100.00 per child, if paid on or before March 2nd.
PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO THE NUMBER OF APPLICANTS WE WILL
NOT HOLD ANY SPACE PAST THIS DATE.
The Extended School Program also continues to accept registrations for next school
year. The fee is $20 per child if paid by March 2nd.
SCHOLARSHIP HELP- THE HELP NIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELED FOR
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5th. We are having technical difficulties with the
computer lab and are waiting for a service tech to solve the problem. We are very sorry
for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. We will keep you informed as to
when the new date will be. There is time, so please make sure that you have your tax
information. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE APPROACHING – Applications for the Children’s
Scholarship Fund, Philadelphia for students entering grades K-5 are now being
accepted by the organization. The deadline is March 1st. The easiest and quickest way
to submit an application is online at www.csfphiladelphia.org. Only families who are
awarded scholarships will be notified by mail in mid-March.
STUDENT COUNCIL –Student Council is selling water, juice, and ice tea for $1. Girls
in grades 4 – 8, the Father/Daughter Dance will be held on Friday, February 27 from
7-10 PM in Fellowship Hall. All slips and payments are due NO LATER THAN
February 11th.
TAG DAY- Red, white and pink are the colors of the day on Friday, February 13th.
Wear your Valentine colors for $1.00. Keep in mind that you need to observe our
dress code.
LAST CALL FOR SPRUCE LAKE PAYMENTS- The deadline for the last Spruce
Lake payment of $75.00 is March 2nd. Please make sure that all payments are in by
that time.
CHAPEL OFFERINGS – Last week our chapel offerings were given to the American
Red Cross. Beginning today, February 4th through February 18st we will be collecting
for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society also known as Pennies for Pasta.
CHAPEL SERVICE – Last week, the Fifth Grade did a great job showing us how to be
good disciples for Jesus. They taught us how to live our lives for Him. Once we decide
to follow Jesus there is no turning back. Who would want to?! Thank you for sharing
your faith with us fifth grade!
NEW STUDENT TESTING – We have begun new student testing this week. If you
have an interest in any of the grades for another child please call the office to sign up
for the testing. Limited space is available in many classes – don’t delay.
PRETZELS - will be served next Wednesday. Place order on Tuesday; cost 50¢ each.
EMERGENCY CLOSING NOTIFICATION SYSTEM REMINDER – If you have
not signed up with the emergency system, please do so at your earliest convenience.
Call the office if you have misplaced the form that went home earlier this school year.
We can give you your User Name and temporary password so you can get into the
Dashboard feature in the School Announcement Rapid Notification System we use.
(Any problems logging on or you have no internet access, contact Mrs. Reiff at the
office or by e-mail at [email protected]. ) Once in the system, you can set your
preference for how you are contacted- phone, e-mail or text. Please note- you can set
for any or all of these methods. Go on today so you don’t miss any announcements.
WHAT SCRIP DO YOU HAVE ON HAND?- These are the following SCRIP cards
we have in the office for sale: ShopRite, Acme, Dunkin Donuts, Wawa, Walmart,
Giant, Pathmark, Wendy’s, Starbucks and Darden.. Please note that there are limited
quantities and are available on a first come, first serve basis. Please be on the lookout
for the next SCRIP order form coming home in the next couple of weeks.
IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH- Don’t forget that if you do not have a home
church, Immanuel Lutheran Church would welcome the opportunity to become your
church. Immanuel offers worship at 10 AM and 7 PM. Sunday School for children 3
years through 6th grade is held during the 10 AM service. We look forward to greeting
you.
CHILI COOK-OFF- Everyone says they make the best chili. YOU know the truth.
YOU MAKE THE BEST CHILI IN THE ENTIRE WORLD! So prove it to the
doubters. Enter a pot of your “to die for” chili in Immanuel Church’s 1st ever Chili
Cook-off. Here’s how to enter;

FOX CHASE FARM HAPPENINGS - Gardening to help others. Last year 2500
pounds of produce was donated to area food
banks.

PARENT TEACHER LEAGUE (The PTL)
The PTL is designed to have teachers and parents working together for the benefit of the student. By your
child attending Immanuel Lutheran School, YOU are automatically a member of the PTL. The PTL thrives
off of parent participation through volunteering, fundraising and fellowship.

Ready, set, go……..The Easter candy sale has now begun! Brochures were sent
home on Monday, February 2nd and all orders are due by February 20th.
Candy delivery date is March 20th. FLYER ATTACHED.
 Read-A-Thon – February 17th – March 6th
This year the PTL will be sponsoring a Read-A-Thon. Each grade will be asked to
participate by reading as many books as they can, while seeking pledges from
family and friends for their achievements. Encourage and support your reader
during this three week event. More detailed information to follow. FLYER
ATTACHED.

Spirit Night @ Chick-Fil-A – Wednesday, February 25th
Another “cook free night”. Join the ILS, PTL for a fun filled dinner date at ChickFil-A. In addition to great food and fellowship, there will be games, prizes and an
indoor playground. Please mark your calendars. Located at 9711 Roosevelt Blvd
in the Whitman Square shopping center from
5 – 8pm on Wed., Feb. 25th. FLYER ATTACHED.
Regularly Scheduled Events
 PTL Meetings – Every 1st Monday of every month
PTL meetings are held the first Monday of every month at 7pm in the lunchroom.
Various topics are covered ranging from: status of fundraisers, upcoming events,
teacher’s requests, planning fellowship activities, volunteering efforts and
presenting new ideas. These monthly meetings provide the time for teachers and
parents to discuss the happenings in and around the school. Because every parent
is a member of the PTL, it is important to try to have at least one member of your
family attend these meetings. You will receive useful information while
remaining abreast of what’s going on.

School Store – Open every M,W,F from 8am-8:30am (only if a parent
volunteer is available)
The school store offers, new school logo gym t-shirts and sweat shirts, various
school supplies, snacks, fun trinkets, and FREE gently used uniforms. *We also
have NEW ILS MERCHANDISE!!! Although it’s a small store, the kids truly
enjoy it. Come see for yourself. Monies raised help support the needs of our
teachers. Volunteering at the store will take about 40 minutes of your time in the
morning (open at 8am, close at 8:30am) WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF
VOLUNTEERS, PLEASE CONSIDER.
