American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Oregon Section 23rd Annual Meeting Objectives Lodging Information This program is designed for Obstetrician/Gynecologists, Family Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, Nurse Practitioners and other health professionals involved in Women’s Healthcare. Women’s Healthcare is constantly at the top of the news, always controversial, and always changing. This program will grapple with a few of those controversies. Oregon Section ACOG has not contracted with hotels or resorts for housing for this conference. We encourage participants coming from out of town to make their reservations through online travel agencies. Jacobson 1230-1345 Lunch/Visit Exhibits R egistr ation At the end of this program the participant should be able to: 1)Enumerate the Institute of Medicine goals for health reform for the United States and how the Affordable Care Act impacts these goals. 2)Discuss the ongoing work of the Oregon Perinatal Collaborative and the initiative to lower the cesarean section rate. 3)Explain how projects to change workflow can improve patient and practitioner satisfaction. 4)Discuss the scientific evidence regarding the short- and long-term medical and neurodevelopmental impact of breast milk 5) Discuss how marijuana legalization can impact medical care. 6)Explain the challenge of prescription opioid and heroin abuse and how to help patients and families cope with and move past addiction. 7) Explain how evidence based medicine can improve the practice of OB/GYN. 8)Demonstrate how to choose minimally invasive surgical technology that is safe and avoid short and long term complications. 9) Discuss how the endometrium functions in reproduction and how its management has changed in the last decade, with implications for fertility and beyond.
