About the Institute:
Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology Bhalki (formerly
known as Rural Engineering College), in Bidar district was
established in the year 1982. The institute is approved by
AICTE New Delhi, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological
University (VTU), Belgaum and accredited by NBA, New Delhi.
The Institute is located at the northern tip of Karnataka, is
one of the best Engineering colleges in Karnataka, with a
lush green campus of 35 Acres, built-up area 50000 Sq.mtr.
Well-equipped laboratories, library having more than 64,000
books and 60 national journals, 29 international journals in
addition to more than 1500 J-GATE, e-subscribed journals
(IEEEASCE, EBSCO, ASME, McGraw hill, ASTM Digital Library),
Sports facilities, T & P Cell, NSS, Student welfare office,
STEP, EDP Cell, Consultancy cell, EDUSAT, e-Vidya learning
etc. offering 5 Bachelor and 5 Master Program’s.
About Department:
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the
year 1982. The current intake is 120 with an excellent
infrastructure well-equipped advanced laboratories and
research facilities. The faculty is well qualified, dynamic and
experienced. The Department has a large number of
publications in International/National journals. Department
also has its own Departmental library with more than 1500
books.
About the Workshop:
An Earthquake resistant practice implies the measures to be
taken that help to reduce severity of damages caused to life,
property & environment. India is highly vulnerable to
Earthquakes that can cause structural damages. The action
taken report on the recent Earthquakes have revealed the
under preparedness of the country in facing its impacts.
Since short term or mid-term prediction of Earthquakes is
difficult, seismic safety of built environment will ensure that
the structure does not collapse, forms an important corner
stone of Earthquake resistant practice.
Objectives:
This workshop strives to emphasize the responsibility of
engineers & planners for embedding the Earthquake
resistant practices of Civil Engineering in their design and
implementations. The partakers will be exposed to the basic
phenomenon of Earthquake and enhance their understanding
of the seismic resistance offered by the designed structure.
In addition they will be enlightened with, Engineering
properties of the suitable indigenous materials, and local
skill technology to be adopted.

Registration:
All the participants from industry have to pay registration
fee of Rs.1000/- which includes registration kit, working
Lunch and certificates will be issued after the workshop. All
payments are to be made through DD drawn in favor of the
“PRINCIPAL, BHEEMANNA KHANDRE INSTITUTE OF
TECHNOLOGY, BHALKI” on or before 26thFebruary 2015.
The registration for faculty members of colleges affiliated to
VTU is free on first come first serve basics and their
applications must be routed through proper channel.
Accommodation:
Accommodation will be arranged in the college hostels, for
accommodation prior intimation is required.
