ER’s Message
Members & Friends,
January provided multiple opportunities to participate in Lodge and Community activities. Both Hoop Shoot contests lead by chairmen Pete Cline were successful with two
Towson Lodge participants moving up to the next level. The next event will be held at
the Frederick Lodge beginning at 1PM on Saturday February 7th. A special thank you
goes out to all those that volunteered and especially those who braved the inclement
weather for the District competition.
The 21st annual chili contest coordinated by Brian Tunney, was again led by Mike
Lawlor and the traditional determination of winners by the Judges. Thanks to all who
participated and congratulations to first place winner Sean Loughrey, second place
winner Ron Blachowicz and third place winner Mike Perry.
Vince Pullara has stepped up to keep the soups alive for our Saturday patrons. Thank
you for coordinating with all the soup makers to assure a full schedule for each Saturday during the cold months.
Please remember our next Red Cross Blood Drive on Sunday February 8 th from 8 AM
to 1 PM. If you cannot donate please tell a friend so that the Towson Elks will maintain our tradition for this very important community event.
Mary and I will be hosting a gathering at the Lodge on Saturday March 28th from 4 -7
PM. It is open to all members and their special quest to thank all for the opportunity to
serve as Exalted Ruler for this past Elk year. We look forward to seeing all interested
at this event.

Brrrr….Winter refuses to give us a break it is COLD!! But then there is the good side we can
refuge inside and what better place then the Elks lodge on a cold Friday a cozy dinner, great
music, good friends. Let it snow!! And of course there is Bar Bingo the first Saturday of the month and speaking of
that there will be a few changes in the upcoming months because of conflicting events (mark your calendar) March
and April Bar Bingo will be the second Saturday (instead of the usual first) and in May it will be the second Saturday
also and July, the second Saturday of the month. February will be (as usual) the first Saturday. We hope to see you
there, bring a friend or two. The Ladies of the Elks will have their installation of Officers at the Lodge on Sunday
March 22nd. Think about bringing a friend to an event and perhaps interesting them in joining our organization.
Have fun… Peggy Flanigan, Secretary
