Our Lady of the Rosary Mission Statement
We, the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary, are a pilgrim church. Under the
mantle of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we grow as a people of God following Jesus,
celebrating the Eucharist, living apostolic service, continuing faith formation
and Marian devotions. We strive to bring the joy of the gospel and imitate Jesus
through compassion, mercy and love, especially for the poor and marginalized. We seek to be faithful stewards providing a heart and home for all. Our Lady of the Rosary

We welcome all visitors to our celebration.

Pastor’s Corner
The Lord Jesus is in our midst as one
who heals and forgives sins.
The men who carried the paralytic in
Mark’s Gospel demonstrated a great deal
of faith. Removing the roof and digging
through it to bring the paralytic to Jesus
indicated that they were determined to
let nothing – not even the fear of being
embarrassed by the crowd – keep them
from seeking the attention and help of
Jesus. The gospel points out that Jesus
was moved by their faith and that of
the paralytic. Because of their faith,
the paralytic was healed of his physical
ailment and his sins forgiven.
We need faith. We need God’s
forgiveness. Yes, we all do! When Jesus
saw the man he said to him: “Son, your sins
are forgiven”, by so doing, Jesus decided
to give him not what he wanted but what
he needed – not a physical cure but a
spiritual one. This is very remarkable. For
the lord Jesus, forgiveness is indeed the
most profound healing we can experience.
When we refuse to acknowledge our need
for God’s forgiveness and/or not willing
to forgive others, we remain disfigured
and paralyzed in spirit.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday Feb.
18. It is a penitential season, a time that
God is begging us to come back to Him
with all our heart; a time to experience
His infinite mercy and forgiveness. It is a
time of healing! Through Prayer, Fasting
and Abstinence we are called upon to
deepen our relationship with Christ and
with one another especially the poor.
May we be filled with the richness
of His mercy.
Presidents’ Day
In observance of the holiday,
the parish offices will be closed
Monday, February 16th.

Lent Begins On Ash Wednesday February 18th
Fasting: Eating only one full meal, less at other mealtimes, and nothing in between meals. Catholics, who
are in good health, from 21 to 60 years of age, are bound to fast on Ash Wednesday (February 18th) and
Good Friday (April 3rd).
Abstinence: Means to refrain from eating meat. Catholics from 14 years of age and over are bound to
abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent.
Easter Duty: All Catholics must receive Holy Communion at least once during the time between the 1st
Sunday of Lent (February 22nd) and Trinity Sunday (May 31st).
Confession: The obligation to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation at least once a year has no set time;
naturally the Lenten Season offers a very opportune occasion for a Sacramental conversion.
Lenten Celebrations: Our Parish offers a 7:30 AM and a 12 Noon Mass, daily. Stations of the Cross:
every Friday after the Noon Mass and at 7:30 PM. Priests are always available for Confessions, especially
before services.
Ash Wednesday: Ashes will be distributed during Mass at 7:30 AM, 12 Noon and 7:00 PM.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament: Every Friday, 8:00 AM – 12 noon & 12:30 PM – 7:30 PM.

Restorative Justice and Detention Ministry
Jesus said, “I was in prison and you visited me.
What you did for the least of these you did for me.”
Restorative Justice focuses on harms committed
and making the offender accountable to the
victim and the community, and to bring about
transformation of all parties.
There are many components including
Detention Ministry, Victim/Offender Dialogue,
reentry practices, victim support, and support
for the families of the incarcerated. These
are corporal works of mercy; ministries
of presence, compassion, hope, and love.
Compassion, hope, and love flow out of our
presence – by being there for them.
We impact the lives of those imprisoned in 27
different prisons, jails, and detention facilities,
housing over 25,000 inmates. This includes
eight sheriff’s jails, five juvenile detention
facilities, three state prisons, and four federal
detention facilities. Many of these inmates are
hungry to deepen their relationship with God.
We merely become the conduits, or channels,
of the Holy Spirit.
Our diocese supports twelve chaplains to say
Mass, administer the sacraments, and visit
inmates individually. We provide assistance to
300 Catholic volunteers to conduct scripture,
prayer and discussion services. More than 60%
of our volunteers have never volunteered for
anything else in the Church.
Merciful
CALLED TO BE
This ministry of compassion, hope, and love is
possible thanks to the support of the Annual
Catholic Appeal. This is our special opportunity
to transform lives on a person-to-person level.
“For I was in prison,
and you visited me”.
Matthew 25:36
“ Amen, I say to you,
whatever you did for one
of these least brothers
of mine, you did for me.”
— MATTHEW 25:40
