Collect Almighty God, you have created the
heavens and the earth and made us in your own
image: teach us to discern your hand in all your works
and your likeness in all your children; through Jesus
Christ your Son our Lord, who with you and the Holy
Spirit reigns supreme over all things, now and for ever
Amen
Additional Collect Almighty God, give us
reverence for all creation and respect for every
person, that we may mirror your likeness in Jesus
Christ our Lord Amen
Post Communion God our creator, by your gift
the tree of life was set at the heart of the earthly
paradise, and the bread of life at the heart of your
Church: may we who have been nourished at your
table on earth be transformed by the glory of the
Saviour’s cross and enjoy the delights of eternity;
through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen

Lenten Thoughts
Our minds are now turning to Lent. To celebrate Shrove
Tuesday there will be a Mardi Gras party at All Saints,
Long Marston on Sunday 15th February (their first one
ever!). Please contact Jane for more details.
On Shrove Tuesday itself, there will be a Messy Church
Carnival and Pancake Fiesta from 2 – 3.30pm at St John
the Baptist that will include pancake races.
th
Then on Ash Wednesday, 18 February, we will have
services with the imposition of ashes at 10am in Aldbury
and Wilstone, and 12.30pm and 8pm in Tring.
Our theme this Lent is the 7 Deadly Sins; films about each
of these begin this week. Our first film will be Amadeus
where we will see how envy corrupts.
Our house groups will also look at the Deadly Sins. There
are a number of Lent House Groups which you might like
to join. Some have only limited spaces. The groups you
can join are






Monday afternoons in St Cross Church (finishing in
time for school pickups)
Monday evenings in Dunsley Place
Wednesday mornings on Grove Road
Wednesday evenings at the Rectory (Men’s Society –
others welcome to come along)
An evening to be agreed on Christchurch Road
Friday afternoons in Meadow Close
If none of these is suitable but you still want to go to a
housegroup, please let us know and we will do our best to
accommodate you. All of the material for the housegroups
is on our website, so even if you cannot join a house group
you might like to read the same material.
