BINGO
“Rainy night in Georgia,” I mean Briny; still 72 people came out to play Bingo. That alone says a lot
about how popular this club is, yes everyone likes to win & many do, yet it’s about the fun. Members
come and hang out with your neighbors. New members welcome & your guests are welcome. It’s so hard
to believe that we are already in February & at the end of February Bingo closes membership. This is
done to keep the integrity of the club. For the people who support us from the beginning by sending in
their dues even if they have not played, they have helped us early on. Yes they can come to the last BIG
JACKPOT too. So send in your dues, only $3.00/per. Just fill out a paper with your name & unit
number, (checks accepted, made out to Bingo), put it in an envelope addressed to Bingo & put it the
interoffice mail (in mailroom). Extra thanks today for Fran Zaffino (card seller) for staying late to help,
Velda Armstrong, Membership, THE ABSOUTE BEST, she is there for everyone and always available
to help and a huge asset to Bingo & Cindy Holbrook, Treasurer, she too IS GREAT doing other things
than just their titles. I am grateful for them & everything they bring. Thank you Char Murray for
calling. Jackpot was $120.00 (YIPPIEE). Barbara Klink Pres.

BIBLE STUDY & DISCUSSION
‘What Happens When I Don’t Pray’ – In Paul’s 1st letter to the Thessalonians Chapter 5, we read a
curious short verse which says ‘pray without ceasing’. Most of us are familiar with the directive BUT
have you ever stopped to consider the implications if we do not pray in all circumstances? Please
consider joining us as a group of fellow Brinyites discuss ‘The Power of a Simple Prayer’ - Sunday nights
at 6:30pm in the West Clubhouse

CHURCH NEWS
The message this past Sunday was so good. Dr. Harold Scmul spoke to us on ‘He who has the Son has it
all’. The Scripture reading was from 1 John 5:1-5 (verse 5 is the key verse) ‘This is the message we have
heard from Him and declare to you, God is light, in Him there is no darkness at all’. He who has the Son
has it all, through the Son we have eternal life. Let the Lord lead you. We can’t do it without the Lord.
The Lord will overcome everything. It was a wonderful service.
Paul Ruopp sang a beautiful solo in memory of his wife Joan. All of the hymns were so meaningful. The
choir sang a lovely hymn under the direction of Judy Nasby and Mary Fulton-Kelley at the piano.
The service is inter-denominational and meets each Sunday at 10:30am in the Auditorium. We are so
pleased to see so many folks coming to the service. All are welcome.
If you would like to give flowers in honor or in memory of a loved one or friend, please call Betty Foland
at 272-3990. This Sunday Rev. Ray Brower will bring God’s message.

‘Tiny Town turns on its own TV show’
‘Today’ Show’s Bryant Gumbel and Jane Pauley may be interviewing this week’s national news star, but
chances are at 8am most of the tv sets in Briny Breezes are tuned to Ron Heinlein and ‘B’ Rudderham. The
couple cohost a closed circuit TV show, BBC8, or Briny Breezes Channel 8 live from the Briny Breezes
Community Center every weekday morning. ‘It’s the greatest thing to come to the park. Now we get all
the park news’, says Bud Phillips, 64, as he plays a game of shuffleboard at the park on the ocean between
Ocean Ridge and Gulf Stream. The town consists of a trailer park, a few shops and a community center.
There are 620 families living in Briny Breezes, 100 of whom are year round residents. The rest return to
their homes in the north in April. The park news may be about the latest travel club trip, last night’s program
at the Community Center or a cookie sale.
Just as with the ‘Today Show’, there are guests. Heinlein’s grandson Jeff, who celebrated his 10th birthday
last week, told his grandfather he wanted to go to the toy store to pick out his present – right on TV for 620
families to hear. Other special guests over the season included Jack Taylor, 56, a retired manufacturer from
Michigan, and Charles Stimets, 74, who owned a radio station in Vermont, who started the show about two
months ago using video cameras and borrowed microphones.
Taylor is the camera operator and Stimets is the technician. Rudderham, 70, who taught hat making before
she retired, was hired as co-host after she came on the air to talk about the travel club trips she organizes.
One day on the air Heinlein and Rudderham planned a cookie contest and sale. There were cookie judges
and three winners who were, naturally, interviewed on the show. The center was opened up for the sale and
within half an hour, the cookies were gone and BBC8 had made $330 for its equipment fund.
The show goes off the air the last week in April as most of the residents close up their trailers and head for
their northern homes. But the BBC8 team says the show will be back on the air in November.
