Be a SUPERvisor to Child
Counselors & Play
Therapists
The presenters will deconstruct the supervisory relationship, illustrating how
experiential tools can expand the traditional didactic framework of
supervision. Through instructive activities, participants will gain an
understanding of the multiple and complex roles of the play therapy or child
counseling supervisor. Participants will learn supervisory interventions that
are specific to the unique challenges of child counselors and play therapists
which strengthen and expand the processes of supervision, the practice of play
therapy, and the personal growth of the supervisee.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to: 1) Understand the
rationale for the inclusion of experiential tools and techniques within play
therapy or child counseling supervision. 2) Distinguish a minimum of three
different supervisory roles and identify at least one experiential tool or
technique that can be used within each role. 3) Explain the components of two
experiential tools and techniques, providing an explanation of their use within
supervision.
