It is necessary to contact a priest 6 months before
the Date of marriage. Pre-marriage preparation is
also required for the Sacrament of Marriage.
PUT ON JOY
Today, Baruch speaks of the splendor that lies ahead for the city of Jerusalem and for all of us, regardless of where home
is for us. Throw off strife, he tells us, and put on joy. Like a favorite old sweatshirt, joy fits, and how warm it keeps us,
even when the winds blow cold.
Paul knows of this joy as he pens his letter to the Philippians, praying that they may grow in their ability to discern what
is righteous and good. And Luke speaks to us of John, who was foretold by Isaiah and who sings a similar song—
“Prepare the way of the Lord,” for salvation is at hand.
A man ahead of his time, Baruch spent his days joyfully awaiting a distant glory. On this Second Sunday of Advent, Paul
and John know that this glory is upon us. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

RECONCILIATION OPPORTUNITIES
“The Light Is Still On For You!” is an initiative of the Diocese
of Pittsburgh to encourage Catholics to avail themselves of
the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Confession is a wonderful
opportunity to set aside our sinful ways and to draw closer to our
Lord. Confession will be available on Wednesday, December
9 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in every Catholic parish in the
Diocese. Plan now to set some time aside and come receive God’s
grace and healing.
If you cannot attend “The Light Is Still On For You!”, plan to
attend St. Patrick’s Parish Reconciliation Service the following
Wednesday evening, December 16 at 7:00 pm in the church.
CHRISTMAS TREE MEMORIALS
While we traditionally take donations for Christmas flowers, this year we are also again giving you
the opportunity to remember your deceased loved
ones with a donation towards a Christmas Tree that
will be placed in our Sanctuary and noted in our
bulletin. If you are interested, please call the parish
rectory at 724.745.6560 by December 14, 2015.
ANGEL TREE
St. Patrick Parish will be participating in
the Angel Tree this Christmas season.
Please take an Angel from the tree in church.
Purchase the suggested item and bring the gift
back to church UNWRAPPED and with the
Angel on it to identify the person receiving it. The gifts
have to be in church by the date indicated on the tag.
If you have any questions, please call Carol at the Faith
Formation Office at 724-745-3787. Thank you for your
cooperation and generosity.
WELCOME TO ST. PATRICK PARISH
Welcome to St. Patrick Parish! Do you want to join our parish
family? If so, please complete a Parish Registration Form, which
can be found at the exits of the church or on the parish website,
www.stpatrickparish.net, and submit via the mail, email to
[email protected], or in the Sunday collection basket.

SPONSORS & GODPARENTS
CHRISTMAS BOOK SALE
Sponsors’ & Godparents’ letters, for upcoming Baptisms and
Confirmations to be held at another Catholic Church, are
provided by the parish for registered members, who have been
members for at least six months, attend Mass, and are receiving
the sacraments on a regular basis. Letters may be obtained by
calling Rita at 724.745.6560, ext 11.
A new children’s book titled “The Cure for the Christmas
Crazies” has been written and illustrated by April Hartmann, a
fellow parishioner and 3rd grade catechist. The book focuses on
joyfully giving thanks for the birth of Christ in the midst of all
our seasonal activities. Children will learn about the original
Saint Nicholas and hear Bible Stories throughout the book.
Stop by between morning Masses to pick up a signed copy.
The cost of the book is $18, with a portion of the proceeds
benefitting our local Knights of Columbus campaign to
Keep Christ in Christmas.
CHRISTIAN MOTHERS

at the main entrances of the church for your convenience.
We thank you in advance for your wonderful support!
PLEASE DO NOT BRING DONATIONS
ON ANY OTHER SUNDAY THAN

and a six ounce box. Stop at our tables and check out our
selection of new flavors and those you enjoyed in the past. The

look forward to seeing you in the Vestibules of the Church
after all weekend Masses. Merry Christmas!

Luminaries!
Thursday, December 24, 2:00 pm
Meet in the parking lot to make, place and light the luminaries.
“Legos” building blocks are all the rage. They appeal to
everybody– kids and adults—because at the heart we are
all builders. A key understanding of “On Mission to The
Church Alive!” is our responsibility in building the kingdom of God. That sounds like a scary proposition, much
too big for us. But it is simple. St. Theresa of Lisieux
explained: “ A word, a kindly smile, will often suffice to
gladden a wounded and sorrowful heart.” That’s how we
can build up the kingdom of God—one small act of
kindness at a time!
