Your interview and online writing sample will be reviewed by the ALI Placement Committee. This committee will make your final placement and forward it to the necessary admissions office. STEP 1: Register for the ALI Online Writing Test. YOU MUST REGISTER FOR THE TEST IN ADVANCE. To Register and to set-up your profile, click here: https://prod.examity.com/NYU. Examity is the proctoring service you will use for your test. ● Login using your Applicant ID Number as BOTH Username and Password. ● Application ID: (14 + Birth Month + Birth Day + Birth Year), For example, if your birthday is ● ● ● ● October 30, 1986 then your Application ID is 1410301986. Please allow 5 business days of processing time before signing up for your online assessment. Your Application ID will not work prior to the 5 business day window. We will also send you a separate email with a pass code that you will need to waive the $100 testing fee when entering the system. Set-up your online profile. You will need to upload a copy of your government issued ID. Choose your test date and time. The online test system will be open 48 hours every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please enter the exemption code provided to you for the Global Certificate Program . This code can only be used once. Please note: You must complete the online writing test by midnight (New York time) on Monday, March 16, 2015 and your online interview by March 21, 2015. STEP 2: Take the ALI Online Writing Test. This is an internet-based writing exam, which will assess your ability to write in English. Plan to dedicate at least one hour for this Internet-based test. You will need the following to take the online test: ● ● ● A computer with a high-speed internet connection, in a quiet location. An up-to-date browser (no older than one year). Your official Applicant ID number (14 + Birth Month + Birth Day + Birth Year). For example, if your birthday is October 30, 1986 then your Application ID is 1410301986. ● Your government issued photo ID. STEP 3: Register for the Online Interview. When you complete your writing test, you will be referred to a page to register for your interview. Please choose one interview time slot only. STEP 4: Complete your ALI Online Interview. This interview will evaluate your ability to speak spontaneously on a range of topics. The interview will be conducted by ALI faculty using videoconferencing technology. You need to do the following for the interview: ● Use a computer with high-speed internet connection, a camera, speakers, and a microphone. You will be receiving an email with instructions for completing the online interview after completing the online writing test. An Important Note on Academic Integrity: New York University holds that academic honesty must form the foundation of all university work. It is essential for ethical and evaluative reasons that you complete the test and the interview without input from other people and without consulting any other resource. If there is evidence that you have received outside help in completing the OWL test or the online interview, either from another person or from a book, a website, or any other resource, your score will be zero, and offer of admission will be withdrawn.
