prominent research institutes operating at the frontiers of science, Qatar Foundation Research and Development is spearheading a national endeavour to
fulfil this commitment.
This endeavor, exemplified by the Qatar National Research Strategy (QNRS), aims to develop the capabilities of Qatar’s people and institutions, build and
maintain a competitive and diversified economy,
improved the health and well-being of the national
population, support the nations distinctive culture
and security of its people, while also preserving and
improving the natural and built environment.
The project involves construction of a 200,000 m2
world-class Research and Development complex.
The first 40,000 m2 building is expected to open in
the next few months adjacent to the Qatar Science
& Technology Park (QSTP). Bluu Gulf will be working
hand in hand with its parent company,
Redco Construction to build this world class R&D
facility.

QATAR HANDBALL
ASSOCIATION COMPLEX
Qatar is set to host 24th edition of the world men’s
handball championship next year. The tournament
will be held from 15th January to 1st February 2015.
And make Qatar the 2nd country in the Middle East
to have hosted the event after Egypt in 1999. The
games of the tournament will be played in Doha.
Three venues are being constructed for the tournament and one of which is the Qatar Handball Association Complex. The complex, with a total built-up
area of approx. 40,000 square meters, will include
an Arena with a planned capacity of 5,500 seats.
It is being constructed on a 30,000 square meters
land area of soft Landscaping, water feature, parking
spaces and paved walkways.
A master plan of the complex includes 2 training
halls; 60-bedroom players’ accommodation,
restaurant and lounges; QHA administration and
media offices;presidential and exclusive lounges;
medical centre; gymnasium; and swimming pool
and grandstands. The project has been designed as
a sustainable ‘Green’ building and is being executed
by two primary agencies: IGH (Architectural and Interior) and WSP Middle East (Structural, MEP and
Geo technical Engineering) constructed by Redco
Construction Almana.

Completed in 2012, another milestone from Redco
Construction – Almana. The project was handed
over to the client as Turn-Key, and we worked with
the interior fit-outs to be as stylish and modern
facility. Intercontinental The City Doha, is named
after Qatar Silhouette Tower one of the highest
towers in Doha with total height of 220 m. The

TOWERS (AQ-01 & AQ-02)
The Abraj Quartier, or “Neighbourhood of Towers,” is
a major component of a major and ambitious mixeduse development in Doha known as “The Pearl”. The
design language is essentially a contemporary interpretation of traditional styles and themes, which in
turn have been informed by the regional climate and
culture. The site plan organizes a series of residential
towers and low-rise townhouses along a roadway
and boardwalk that front on the Gulf. The boardwalk
not only provides a pleasant pedestrian amenity but
also serves as access to the adjacent beach.
