Montrose Vikings Basketball Information
Montrose Vikings Basketball Club Inc. is a founding member of the Kilsyth & Mountain District Basketball
Association (KMDBA). The club caters for all age competitions from miniball teams to Under 21 years of
age for both boys and girls.
A community based club, the emphasis is on the children having fun whilst learning the basics of
basketball, keeping fit and playing with their friends.
Visit the web site (http://montrosevikings.org.au) for background on the club, information about games
and online registration.
Registration
Each player must complete a Montrose Vikings registration form and ensure the appropriate fees are paid
at the beginning of each season (Summer & Winter).
Fees
When your registration has been approved, an invoice for the fees will be emailed to you. Full payment of
fees is required on or before third week of grading. Any fees outstanding from Summer 2014-15 season
must be paid by this date.
Uniforms
We usually encourage parents to buy uniforms a little larger to allow for growth in younger players.
Uniform items may be purchased online at http://montrosevikings.org.au or by completing the uniform
order form.
Training and Games
Training is typically held at Billanook or Montrose Primary Schools or Kilsyth Stadium for younger players.
Check the web site for training schedules. Please remember:
1. Inform coaches if you cannot attend
2. Training is not held on public holidays and school holidays
3. Some teams do not train if there is no game that week due to a bye or holiday. If you are not sure
whether training is on, check with your team manager
4. Training sessions are between 30 to 45 minutes and the hire cost of these indoor facilities is high,
so please be punctual
5. Your child should have appropriate footwear and a drink bottle with fresh water for
training sessions and games. If they have one, a basketball can be brought to training as well.
Games are played at either;

Door fees are $2.50 (as at January 2015) for spectators and players. There is also a Game fee which
ranges from $3 to $6 dependent on age and number of players in a team.
Parents/guardians attending games will be expected to assist with scoring and sweeping the court at

Coaches and Team Managers
All our coaches and team managers are volunteers. Please be respectful of the work they do for the
club. All coaches and team managers have to hold a valid “Working With Children” card.
Parents/Guardians and players must complete a “Code of Conduct” form.
Medical Conditions
Please advise the team manager and/or coach of any medical condition your child/ren may have and
provide an Action Plan if required.
Player Encouragement
Let the coaches do their job in correcting technique and issuing instructions during the game. As a
parent, your role is purely to encourage all players and not to criticise any player, including your own.
Help us become a stronger Club
Your feedback is encouraged, both positive and negative. Fill in the Feedback form on the website at
http://montrosevikings.org.au to let us know of any issues, concerns or ideas you have to increase
participation in the Club.
