FUNERAL FOR BRIGADIER ERROLD FREDERICK (FRED) PFITZNER AM RETD, 17 MARCH 2015
On Tuesday the 17th of March 2015 the Christ Church, North Adelaide assisted by Blackwell Funerals will conduct a funeral
service for the late Brigadier Errold Frederick (Fred) Pfitzner AM Retd. at the Church on Palmer Place, North Adelaide.
The Service will commence at 2.00 p.m.
Fred was a respected member of the Church and the service will be conducted by the Church and will not be a military funeral.
Fred saw regimental service within the Royal Australian Regiment in 3 RAR, 5 RAR, 9 RAR and finally 8/9 RAR as its
Commanding Officer.
The following will support the Service:
Pultney Grammar School – Honour Guard.
Australian Army Band Adelaide – bugler.
RAR Association SA – piper.
It was Fred’s wishes that commemorative red poppies would not be placed on his coffin during the Service.
At the conclusion of the Service Fred’s coffin lead by the funeral director and the piper playing a lament will exit the Church
through the south western doors and through the Honour Guard before being placed into the hearse by the pall bearers.
Ex-service members are then requested to line the south eastern side of Jeffcott Street before the hearse departs for the
crematorium with the piper playing Black Bear. As the hearse passes their front ex-service members are requested to come to
attention and those in uniform salute.
As a mark of respect to Fred current service and ex-service members are requested to wear decorations and medals.
At the conclusion of the Service afternoon tea will be served in the Church’s social hall. There will not be a formal RAR
Association Wake for Fred.
Parking is very difficult around the Church. Suggested locations to try are; Strangways Terrace, Ward Street or the
underground parking at the North Adelaide Village with entry via Archer Sreet.
Entry to and exit from the Church are via Jeffcott Street between Ward Street and Pennington Terrace.
