EMBA core courses
The International Assignment is a unique opportunity
to expand your business experience, grow your global
network, apply your skills and explore a new culture.
One International Assignment is mandatory and you
have the opportunity to take a second if you wish.
Travel to one of five international locations and work
on real business issues alongside students from
other degree programmes. Through a combination of
lectures, company visits and debates, you experience
the way business is conducted in a global market and
test your ability to manage across boundaries.
Elective courses
In part 2 of the Executive MBA programme, you complete
between six and eight electives. London Business School offers
an exceptionally wide portfolio of elective courses. There are more
than 70 to choose from, with over a third scheduled at weekends
or in block week formats specifically to suit Executive MBA
students.
Your personal elective portfolio is a key part of your longterm career development. This is your opportunity to tailor the
programme to your specific needs and interests, and further refine
your skills of working in different teams. You gain the skills and
knowledge you need to accelerate to a senior management role,
change your career trajectory or start your own venture.
On the elective courses, you study alongside students from the
other London Business School Masters degree programmes – the
fulltime MBA, EMBA-Global Americas and Europe, EMBA-Global
Asia, Masters in Finance and the Sloan programme. This enriches
your learning environment and allows you to build networks across
the School with other successful, high-calibre professionals from
around the world.

every year.
How you take them
Electives are taken in part 2 of the programme
and are subject to individual schedules.
Flexible format
Each elective includes at least 30 hours of
teaching time, which may be structured
in a number of formats to suit the Executive
MBA schedule. Electives are offered in the
following formats:
Weekly sessions
Classes run over 10 weeks
with students attending once a
week for 2¾ hours, either in a
morning, early afternoon, late
afternoon or evening.
Modular sessions
Classes run on Fridays and
Saturdays of alternate weeks
for 10 weeks. There are
typically two sessions each
day, which last 2¾ hours each.
Block sessions
Classes run from Monday
to Friday for one week.
There are typically two
sessions each day, which
last 2¾ hours each.
