Who Should Attend
Any health professional who works with diabetic clients who have insulin pumps.
Program Description
This program will provide participants with a review of basic physiology of glucose control, practical aspects of
insulin pump therapy along with hands-on training. Each participant will also receive a guidebook to insulin pumps.
Objectives
Upon completion of this knowledge-based program, the participant will be able to:
• Review the physiology of glucose control in the diabetic client;
• Review evidence regarding importance of tight glycemic control;
• Discuss the insulin pump as a tool in glycemic management;
• Describe basal insulin, determination of initial settings, and checking the rates for accuracy;
• Discuss the importance of bolus insulin administration, adjusting carb to insulin ratios, and accurate carb
counting;
• Discuss continuous glucose monitoring as an adjunct therapy with insulin pump therapy; and
• Discuss insulin pump therapy as it applies from pediatric to senior adult populations.

$125 if registration and payment are received by July 10; $150 thereafter.
Group discount: $112.50 if registration and payment are received for three or more participants on the same check

Participants who register for the program and are not able to attend, may:
• Send a substitute;
• Cancel 48 business hours before the program and receive a voucher for 100% of the registration fee for use at a
future SR-AHEC program; or
• Cancel 48 business hours before the program and obtain a refund for 70% of the registration fee.
Cancellations less than 48 business hours before the program are non-refundable. Participants who register for a
program and do not attend will forfeit the full amount of the program registration fee.
