Honor business challenge
PARTICIPATING TEAMS
AIMS
The aim of the Honor Business Challenge is to provide students with the opportunity
to plan and execute a virtual marketing campaign for the launch of a real Huawei
device whilst competing for a space in Huawei’s summer internship which includes
the opportunity to spend a month working in Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzen,
China.
The Honor Business Challenge offers undergraduates within universities a unique
opportunity to improve their knowledge of the business world, put theory into
practice and develop their team-working, leadership and employability skills by
participating in a team-based competitive challenge. The Challenge gives
undergraduate students the opportunity to execute a marketing plan they have
created and access to industry professionals. Students will make all the critical
business decisions that affect the performance of their marketing plan.

TIMETABLE
1. The Registration opens by 15th of April.
2. Contacting university and confirm their participation by 20th April.
3. Registration closed by 1st of May (Friday).
4. Final day of submission for first round on 5th May 2015. (so participant have
adequate time up to 3 weeks to come up with business plan)
5. Finalists for first round will be notified by 11th May 2015.
6. Finalists will be contacted by Huawei between 11th to 13th May for organising
face to face meeting with professionals.
7. Visiting finalists (face to face meeting ) at their campus from 14th May to 29th
May 2015.
8. The campaign will close on 29th Aug 2015. (so participants have full one
month to implement the business plan/ making the content)
9. Winners of the final round will be announced on Honor website by 31st of
August
10. Winners names can be obtained by writing to [Reading office] within [5 days]
following the closing date on 29th of August.
BRIEF
The challenge for 2015:
To develop an online social marketing campaign for the Honor six plus or Huawei
Grace/Grace Lite devices, the campaign should encapsulate the spirit of the Honor
brand and its ‘for the brave’ motto.
ROUNDS
Round 1: Marketing Plan
Prepare and submit a marketing plan/ proposal in writing around an online
marketing campaign to support the launch of the Honor 6+ or Huawei P8
(Grace/Grace Lite) which best captures the Brief.

One team from each participating university whose Marketing Plan best reflects the
brief in an original and creative way will be put forward to the Final Round
(implementation phase).
Final Round: The Campaign
The finalists will be tasked with turning their marketing plans into a real campaign .
Teams will have a chance to meet industry experts before creating content to turn
their Marketing Plan into a campaign to be run on one or more of Honor’s social
media channels.
Teams will be judged on their execution, originality and creativity, and the social
media interest their campaign generates..
PRIZES
Winners of Round 1
Each team chosen to progress to the next round will receive one device either the
Honor 6+ or Huawei P8 and £500. Each member of the team will get Huawei
Branded T-shirt/Jacket.
Winners of the Final Round
The team leader from each of the first, second and third placed teams will be
invited to participate in the Huawei summer internship (subject to conditions and
contract). This is a paid internship lasting 8 weeks from 1st Aug 2016 to 30th Sep 2016
including the opportunity to spend one month working in Huawei’s headquarters in
Shenzhen. The offer of the internship is subject to the individual team leader having
the necessary permission to work in the UK. The offer of working in China is subject to
the individual having appropriate visa and travel documents in place. Each
member of these three teams will get either the Honor 6+ or Huawei P8.
All participants who successfully complete the challenge will receive a certificate
confirming their participation.
