A 236-bed new county 24 hour skilled nursing care facility offering psychiatric, social and nutritional services to those with
developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease and behavioral health issues. Also
offers vocational rehabilitation and physical, occupational and speech therapy programs. Student will work primarily with
individuals experiencing brain injury as well as residents with dementia and those needing rehabilitation.

The student will work side by side with a direct care nurse in order to complete Medicare assessments and charting, treatments
including dressing changes, topical skin treatments, wound vacs (possibly depending on population), etc., medication
administration including oral, subcutaneous, IV (possibly), vital signs, infection control monitoring when on antibiotics, MD
calls, MD orders, transfers to hospital (possibly), admissions, interdisciplinary teamwork, and care conferences. The focus will
be on pre-admit assessments via nurse-to-nurse handoff, data collection and prep for admission, admission assessment, med
reconciliation, order clarifications, care plans, and care conferences with opportunities to work with the floor nurses in all of
the above mentioned areas.

Rainbow Hospice is an 8 patient bed facility with multiple levels of care. Student will learn to work with an interdisciplinary
team of physicians, nurse practitioner, nurses, CNA’s, social worker, chaplain, dietitian, pharmacist and volunteers. Students
are exposed to end of life symptom management standards, patient specific care planning, patient and family education and
nursing skills.

7B is a Medical/Surgical/Neurological Unit that provides nursing care to patients from the following services: General
Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery. Patient population with many comorbidities and overall many opportunities for learning. Two clinical 'experiences' will be facilitated within the facility based
on availability in addition to the dates and/or times above, such as operating room, morgue, wound/ostomy care, ICU,
emergency room, etc., based on students interest which will be coordinated by the preceptor.
