ATF Delegates All Set For 2016 Edition In Manila, Philippines
The 35th instalment of the ASEAN Travel Forum
(ATF) is set to showcase products and services
from over 40 destinations across the 10 ASEAN
countries, with a representation of more than
450 exhibition booths on the show floor. Host
Philippines is showcasing 13 regions from across
the country. Manila’s Entertainment City will be
home to key ATF activities including the three-day
TRAVEX travel trade mart from 20 to 22 January
2016, held at the SMX Convention Centre Manila.
“ATF has been a key trade event for the Philippines
that has proven to produce good results for our
travel suppliers over the years. This showing at
ATF 2016 will be one of Philippines’ best with
over 150 exhibiting booths from across the
country. Participation at ATF 2016 also includes
a strong showing of corporate hotel chains
such as CHM Hotels, FRHI Hotels & Resorts,
Furama Hotels International, HPL Hotels & Resorts,
Park Hotel Group, Premier Inn Hotel, Sol Melia,
InterContinental Hotels Group, Starwood Asia
Pacific Hotels & Resorts, Best Western International,

Chairperson of ATF 2016 TRAVEX Sub-Committee.
Lindawati Muhlis, Head of Sales & Marketing
Indonesia of Premier Inn South East Asia shared
why ATF is the platform to showcase the brand to
buyers, “In addition to regional inbound sales, our
presence at ATF also increases market awareness
for our brand across ASEAN and beyond.”
With just one month away, the international
event that features the largest collection of
ASEAN tourism products and services will host
400 buyers around the world. The appeal of
ASEAN destinations has drawn the interest of
global buyers from across 65 countries, with
the participation of top markets such as Australia,
France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Poland,
Russia, Singapore, United Kingdom and United
SMX Convention Centre Manila
States of America.
Confirmed hosted buyer Chow Keng Fong, General
Manager of Poloair Holidays Shanghai, China
PR who organised an incentive trip for 65 people
in January to Bangkok and Chiang Mai, says that
Thailand is one of the ASEAN countries that is
popular among Chinese travellers in terms of its
attractions, shopping and culinary experiences.
“With demand at hand, ATF is ever more so an
important travel industry event and I find it very
relevant to our business expansion plan,” remarked
Chow.
Christopher D’Souza, Global MICE Consultant of
Liberty Travel, United States of America said, “I
can’t think of any trade event that presents Asia in
a better format than ATF which brings together 10
ASEAN countries all under one roof. Attending ATF
allows me to source for my clients with ease.”
Some 100 hosted media from around the world
will join 75 local media from the Philippines
to cover the latest travel developments that the
region has to offer. These media include editors,
journalists, and publishers from travel publications,
travel bloggers and TV producers. Official media
sessions include the tourism ministers’ press
conference and media briefings by all 10 ASEAN
countries.
William McGough, Travel Writer of Conde Nast,
Gear Patrol, United States of America shared,
“As a travel writer, it is invaluable to be able to
shake hands with buyers, suppliers, media and
professionals alike who work within Southeast
Asia, and are able to provide me with great insights
into new and exciting initiatives in the region. ATF
is the platform for me to reach out to these people.
I also enjoy being on-site to receive the latest news
from the media briefings for each country, giving
me an ‘insider scoop’ on the year to come.”
Juhan Kamaruddin, Editor of Gaya Travel, Malaysia
concurred, “I find that ATF is an important platform
for all ASEAN countries to meet, compare notes,
update on each other’s progress with regards to
tourism and push for a more integrated ASEAN.
The region offers so much exoticism, diversity and
getaway opportunities not just for those outside
of ASEAN, but also for those based in ASEAN.
From a media standpoint, ATF allows me to obtain
updates directly from the ASEAN members about
their latest tourism offerings.”
