Following consultation with the Jingle Advisory Group, we are now in the process of implementing a brand new jingle system,
to move away from self-reporting. The first step in this transition is OPUS (Online Portal for Uploading Songs). This new
system is now ready for you to use.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE:
OPUS only accepts
audio in these
three formats:
AIFF, WAV, MP3.
Once it’s
uploaded, you
can play it to
make sure it’s
the right work.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Register a work as per usual.
Select the usage as a ‘jingle’ rather than a ‘general work.’
Finish registering your jingle through CMS.EXE.
To upload audio files, you’ll need to log out of CMS.EXE and
login to your Publisher Portal on the APRA AMCOS website.
6. Select OPUS on the main menu.
7. The first time you access OPUS, you will be asked to read
8.
You don’t have to add in
metadata if you don’t want to
– a lot of it is already pulled in
by the system. But if you want
to add in more, you can. The
more metadata there is, the
easier it will be to track where
and when your jingles have
been played.
Only upload the
longest version of
your jingle. (I.e. if
there’s a 15-second,
a 30-second, and a
1-minute version, only
upload the 1-minute
version).
Login to your account through CMS.EXE.
9.
When searching for
your jingle, use the
and accept the Terms & Conditions.
brand name/client
When you accept, you will then be able to search for the
name as a leading edge
writer for whom you wish to upload jingle audio files.
search to find the jingle
You will see a list of their jingles without audio files. To add you’ve registered. e.g.
MCDONALDS*
audio press the ‘+’ button and upload audio files in the
accepted format from your computer.
10. Follow the prompts and fill out details about the work.
11. Add in metadata by clicking the ‘extract metadata’ button
or type it in manually.
12. Press the ‘SUBMIT AUDIO FILE’ button to complete the
process.
13. Submit your self reporting form by 31 July, 2015.
What is
metadata?
Put simply, it’s data
about your music file i.e.
track name, publisher,
etc. In this instance, it’s
keywords to help track
when and where your
jingle is used.
This is required
so that we can
process your
royalties for the
current financial
year.
The first field is
mandatory but the
ISRC field doesn’t
have to be filled in.
You can click the tool
tips to find out what
each option means.
What is the Jingle
Advisory Group?
APRA AMCOS set up the
Jingle Advisory Group in 2014
to consult with a broad range
of jingle writers, publishers &
production music houses to
improve our jingle system.
The jingle identifier
(i.e. your JG number)
that is created when
you register a jingle
is needed to process
the form.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
1. Make sure all your jingles are registered.
2. Use OPUS to upload audio files to registered jingles that you know will be aired this year (starting
from 1 January, 2015).
3. Submit self-reporting forms by 31 July 2015 so that we can process your royalties for the current
financial year.
Next year, you won’t
need to submit a selfreporting form. The
new jingle system will
take care of that for
you in most instances.
30 APRIL: TESTING DEADLINE
Upload your audio now so we can iron out any technical issues before the full system is launched.
We want our jingle members to be paid as accurately as possible. Your help in this process is invaluable.
Thank you for your help in this transition phase.

Let’s use an example – say you need to register a new jingle that will be used in a ‘Baby Favourite’
advertisement. When you register the jingle, here are the details you need to include:
This is the product your
jingle is advertising. For
example, if the brand
is ‘Baby Favourite’,
the product might be
‘Nappies’.
BRAND/CLIENT
This is the company
you’ve written the
jingle for. e.g. Baby
Favourite.
PRODUCT
Product description
is a title to help you
identify your jingle.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
You’ll supply this information to APRA AMCOS via the new writer portal or, if you’re a
publisher, via your CMS.EXE account. For example:
BRAND/CLIENT
BABY FAVOURITE
Don’t forget! When you
register your jingles,
please make sure
you only submit one
registration for each
jingle composition, even
if there are different
versions of the one jingle.

NEW JINGLE 2015
Your new jingle registration will
be given a JG number to identify
it. If there are multiple versions
of your jingle, or your jingle has
been used in different ways, it all
comes under the one JG number.
Please note: The
three fields are
mandatory. If you
don’t have a Product
Description, just
insert a ‘space’.
If there is a main audio mix of
your jingle, then this is all you
need to upload. However, if your
jingle has been remixed in any
form or fashion, then each new
version should also be uploaded.
You will then have multiple audio
files for the one JG registration.
