Abstract: The new ISO 9001:2015 revised standard is expected in September 2015 and will
be based on Annex SL – the new high level structure (HLS) that brings a common framework
to all management system standards. This helps to keep consistency, alignment different management system standards, offer matching sub-clauses against the top-level structure and
apply common language across all standards. The key changes in the proposed standard are:
The emphasis on leadership, The focus on risk management, Emphasis on objectives measurement and change, Communication and awareness, and Fewer prescriptive requirements. With
the new standard in place, organizations will find it easier to incorporate their quality management system into the core business processes and gain greater business benefit.

between their personal and professional lives. Participants will be introduced to 4 key dimensions of

renew energy and shift from job burnout and personal unhappiness to increased productivity, improved
job satisfaction, and a personal sense of efficacy, meaning and purpose.

Stream B
Speaker: Desmond Mahadeo, Continuous Improvement Manager at
Canadian Tire
Topic: Key Ingredients for Organizational Excellence
Abstract: In today’s world, “Organizational Excellence”,
“Innovation” as well as several other terms have become
clichés. We need to take a step back and understand what
these terms really mean. Oftentimes we mix up the concepts and the tools used for achieving these, resulting in
branding ourselves as “Lean”, “ISO certified”, “Innovative”
etc. This takes us away from the real focus of “Excellence”,
achieved by maintaining a balance of the growth, profitability and employee engagement.
Bio: Desmond Mahadeo is a Mechanical Engineer, a Certified Quality Engineer, a
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and a senior member of the ASQ, with 18 years of
membership. Desmond has a passion for excellence and improvement and volunteers his time to accomplish this.
Speaker: Andrew Milivojevich, President - The Knowledge
Management Group
Topic: Quality Excellence & The Protocol to Discovery
Abstract: Lean & Six Sigma is the product of an
Experiential Learning process. Both protocols
stemmed from a need to solve problems at Toyota
and Motorola. Their power stemmed from the experiences gained by its people solving problems.
When organizations capture how they solve problems, they can develop their own Protocol to Discovery. A protocol born from within the organization has a better chance of success compared to
one that’s borrowed off the shelf. In this lecture,
I’ll discuss how organizations can find their own
Protocol to Discovery, use it to engage their people,
and achieve operational excellence
Bio: Andrew is a fellow of ASQ and is recognized by the Society as
having achieved professional distinction in the theory and application
of quality. He received citations for advancing quality, six sigma, and
innovation in Canada.
