Reporting to: Community Coordinator, Customer Service Manager, Residential Life
Manager
The Residential Advisor acts as a UniLodge@ANU employee to provide after-hours assistance to all residents.
The Residential Advisor will also be an active member of the emergency response team during shifts and
other times when in the building. The Residential Advisor is expected to be a role model, with a focus on
supporting and engaging all residents at UniLodge@ANU. This includes upholding the terms of the Community
Spirit Policy, Occupancy Agreement and the UniLodge Handbook.
The Residential Advisor will be employed on a casual contract commencing on 1 June 2015 and concluding on
31st January 2016. The Residential Advisor is expected to work based on the duty rosters generated by
Customer Service Managers. This would include 2 hours of paid work plus an overnight allowance each shift.
Any amendment to this workload is at the discretion of the Customer Service Manager in the respective
buildings.
The Residential Advisor is required to reside on-site at the assigned Lodge and floor at a tariff rate determined
by UniLodge @ ANU, but is expected to work across all four Lodges, whenever necessary and required. In
addition, the Residential Advisor is also expected to participate in events organized at UniLodge @ ANU and
play an active role in coordinating such events.
Duties include, but not limited to:












Carry the after-hours emergency phone at all times when on duty
After-hours on-call assistance to residents of UniLodge@ANU
Responding to residents locked out of their bedroom/apartment/the building; and ensuring ID checks
prior to admitting any person into the bedroom/apartment/building.
Maintaining a full and detailed log of all activities and call-outs during shift
Responding to noise complaints
Responding to security concerns on site
Monitoring any smoking on premise
Responding to fire alarms and participating in all evacuation procedures when on site
Confirming all common areas and entrances are locked and secure; and contact UniLodge Security,
ANU Security, the police etc. when appropriate
Responding to first-aid emergencies; and call the emergency services when appropriate to ensure a
quick response to any emergency
Responding to incidents in a timely manner; and escalating to the Community Coordinator and/or
Residential Life Manager when situations need further intervention
Participate in a functional team, where the RA will work on a project with other CSL team members
(functional team hours are unpaid and fall under the leadership aspect of this role)

Residential Advisor


Play an active role in assisting with and coordinating events, such as O Week, bush Week, large scale
events and building/floor events (event hours are unpaid and fall under the leadership aspect of this
role)
Assist the SR to complete Project 100 (Project 100 hours are unpaid and fall under the leadership
aspect of this role)
