POTENTIAL BRAZOS RIVER FLOOD
Officials of Bailey’s Prairie are continuing to monitor the levels of the Brazos River and
Oyster Creek.
When the Brazos River reaches 50.8 feet at Rosharon, its waters flow overland into
Oyster Creek and cause a rise in the level of the creek. The level of the Brazos River at
Rosharon on Friday, May 29, 2015 was 49.47 feet at 6:30 a. m. The National Weather
Service predicts the river will continue to rise to 50.2 feet by Tuesday.
The predictions of the National Weather Service may change depending on any
additional rainfall, which may aggravate flooding concerns.
In 1991/1992 flood and 1994 flood, the Brazos River level at Rosharon exceeded 51
feet.
Residents in Bailey’s Prairie should be alert to the rising of Oyster Creek and the Brazos
River.
