VOTE FOR IAN ELDRIDGE
As Proprietor of Bartellas Restaurant and Bar for nearly 12 years I have been fortunate to
witness at close hand much of what makes Meopham and its surrounding district so appealing- it
offers residents and visitors to the area, whether for work or pleasure, a rich and delightful diversity
of village life but as with my own business philosophy, I feel we could and should always do better.
I'm 56, married for nearly 29 years with two grown up children aged 25 and 21. I can offer
you an independent and enlightened stance on local issues. Always realistic, accountable and
approachable, my hospitality career catering to a broad church ensures I'm a great believer in
sorting right from wrong and fundamentally, I get things done. And as a business owner paying close
on £500 every week in business rates it is long overdue that government takes serious note of what
matters at a local level- "no taxation without representation" they said in 1773 but we don't need a
Boston Tea Party for that!
We all want a safe and civilised environment with more local Police visible, engaging and in
touch with their community- not some PC number despatched from Maidstone three days after the
event. We require safe and sensible driving throughout the village, especially near schools but it has
to be encouraged and enforced. Parking and the development of housing, for example, will always
be issues with a growing and aspiring population, but with sensible discussion and debate with a
large sense of collective responsibility, we can make Meopham an even better place in which to live,
work and care for our elder and future generations.
I have been serving the people of Meopham and beyond for over a decade- at Bartellas we
have always played our part with schools, local sports clubs and societies in helping nurture their
valiant pursuits. I hope that with your vote on 7th May I may be elected to formally serve you for a
further four years and help participate and celebrate all that is good in Meopham.
