Welcome & Apologies
Most attendees knew each other but it was great to see a new member
at the meeting and he was introduced to the group.
Apologies were received from Dave Gigli and Vicky Gayle.
2
Chairman’s address
Chris opened the meeting and thanked everyone for attending. He then
went on to thank the committee members for the work they have put in
in the over the last 6 months since the larger committee was formed last
year. We have become much more organised as a club in terms of
promoting rides and managing memberships and have introduced the
club kit that is popular. We have also organised social and events over
Christmas and the track events during the winter worked very well.
Hopefully we will have a very busy year of cycling ahead of us and will
see the club grow further in 2015.

Treasurers report (Jon Ranby)
Current bank balance: £609
Outstanding membership fees for 2015 only £10
Owed to National Clarion £8
Mike asked how much the track nights cost the club in the end and
The Track Nights during winter cost £124 and raised £76 from nonmembers attending these nights so this only cost the club £48 and we
also gained 4 new members during this time.

As the track nights were obviously a success and it was decided that we
will block book some sessions for next winter in advance. Payment will
not be required until we use them in 2016.
Membership Report:
36 paid members 1 junior paid up for 2015. This is significantly up on
last year which is fantastic news. Hopefully we can get to 50 in 2015..
Committee positions
The current committee has only be formed in the last 6 months however
a discussion was opened on whether members are happy with the
current committee members and for any feedback or suggestions on this
so that it could be discussed. Everyone present was happy with the
current positions and no suggestions have been made from any other
members from the agenda so the committee will remain as is:

Jon Ranby – Treasurer
Paul Brackpool – Ride Co-ordinator
Ride schedule and plans
After a fairly long discussion quite a few positive decisions were made
and agreed by all present details below:
Chain gangs
These have proved very popular and we will continue to run them
fortnightly on Wednesday nights. After the next 2 when the nights are
longer we will review the route used and the distance options with the
option of running 2 groups which has been suggested to attract more
riders. Pete will be organising these rides and will post them.

B Rides
We all agreed that these need to be reinstated ASAP. It was suggested
they start at 40 miles and building into 50 through the season 13-14mph
average starting at 9am every Sunday.
A conversation followed regarding who will lead B rides. The
following members present offered to alternately run the B rides to start
with: Chris Smith, Paul Brackpool, Mike Ryan, Peter Michael, and
Chris O’Hare. If other experienced riders who are not here tonight can
run rides occasionally that’s great this is flexible.
The first B ride for 2015 will be this Sunday 19/04/15 and Jon
Ranby will lead it. It will from 9pm at the clock tower keep and be
published on our website and Facebook.
Jon ASAP
A Rides
These will continue to run every week starting at 8am as this time suits
the majority or riders who go on them. There will be a longer challenge
ride each month. This may be a park and ride in Lakes or just a long
ride out from Blackpool.
Tuesday Night TT rides
7
These rides are organised jointly by local clubs in our area and all riders
are welcome to join them. A number of riders present would be
interested in doing these occasionally and they are on now for 2015.
Paul will post on our calendar and gauge interest.
Minutes and action points outstanding from previous committee
meeting
Paul when
possible
2-4 Club constitution. This is now amended and available from the club
website
2-9 Facebook page needs a message directing prospective members to
the Facebook page we do use and our website. This is still outstanding
Chris Smith
and needs doing asap it is confusing people.
ASAP
2-11 Joint rides with other clubs. Unfortunately the last one of these
was cancelled due to bad weather this is ongoing though and we will
hopefully be able to schedule in a couple of rides with other local clubs
and also other Clarion sections this year
Paul
ongoing
3 Adding Chris as a named user to the club bank account as well as Jon
and Mike. This is not done yet as Jon will sort when he has time.
Jon When
possible
5 B rides. These need sorting and will be done later in the meeting.
6 Club kit. Will be discussed later in the meeting.
8 Ask Chris and Gabriella if they would be happy to take on the role of
organising and arranging special cycling and social events and add
them to the website and Facebook site to do this. This is done now and
will be ongoing this year keep an eye on the website!
9-1 Palatine track. This was organised and a great success.
9-5 ICE information needs to be collected and all cards need creating
for members. Mike has created a shared data folder that committee
members can update and use to access emergency details from phones
if required. Jon will look into options for creating ICE cards for
members. This is still ongoing and will discussed later in AOB.

Club Kit:
The first club kit order was well received and the design seems popular
which is great. Our latest spring order is now confirmed and should be
with us by the end of May. All orders placed will be delivered to Mike
who will arrange local delivery/collection of items when they arrive.
9
It was suggested that we should look again at getting a sponsor for our
club and that they may contribute to future kit costs if we were to
incorporate a logo/name into the design. Any members who have
ideas/recommendations for this please speak to Mike.
Website and Facebook
We decided we are happy with the website for now but need to use it
more. We will re-register the host package with the higher package to
get more features and get a better domain name.

ASAP
Facebook is working very well for us at the moment for posting rides
and events. We need to urgently put a redirect on the unused Facebook
page as its causing confusion.
Ride leaders need to make sure that rides placed on Facebook and blogs
after rides are also put onto our website mainly to attract new members.
10
Social Events
Ride
Leaders as
and when
11
Summer Barbecue planned for August! Hopefully a Halloween ride and
Christmas social ride will be arranged later in the year
Chris/
Gabriella
Chris and Gabriella are going to continue posting alternative cycling
events as and when they are available. As a change they will be coming
up with a couple of dates for us to arrange camping and cycling
weekends in the Lake district.
Chris/
Gabriella
Charity challenge rides for less experienced riders will hopefully be
organised and this will be great publicity for the club.
Any Other Business
Chris/
Gabriella
Pete mentioned the coast to coast ride that may of our members are
taking part in. Are people concerned about the climbing and the
distance? Chris are going to do a rekey ride and see why this and get a
better idea on the climbing.
British Cycling affiliation. This will cost the club £90 a year and was
discussed and unanimously agreed that we should pay for this. It offers
several benefits and gets our club on the map and linked to the British
Cycling website. This will also mean that any riders who wish to take
part in competitive events going forward can do so under our club
banner. Although these members need to be members of British
Cycling themselves to do this. This is good reason to get your insurance
from British Cycling.
Chris/
Gabriella
Chris Smith
Cycling insurance: Our policy is to strongly encourage all members to
get insurance. We discussed how to better manage this but did not have
time at this meeting to decide on a formal option for this. It needs to be
discussed again at the next meeting but in the meantime we need to
actively encourage and remind new riders how important this is.
Jon pointed out that The National Clarion do TT rides and will look out
for events near(ish) to us perhaps we could attend.
Jon
Ride leader training courses may be required and this will be
investigated for some of our members regularly leading rides.
Chris Smith
ICE details we need to make sure that all members are carrying
emergency details in case of emergency. We will send an email out to
ask all members to send us emergency details. All members will need
to carry ICE cards. Jon will create and send cards to all members. In
future new members will get one when they join.
12
Boots and Spurs by 1st May we need to get in if possible. We will do a
quick blurb and try and get a good members picture in the next couple
of weeks.
