2015 Cross-Country / Fun Run Carnival
Dear Parents/Carers,
The 2015 Bounty Boulevard State School Cross-Country / Fun Run Carnival will be held on Monday 30th March 2015. The
details are as follows:
Date:
Monday 30 March, 2015
Venue:
Bounty Boulevard State School Oval
Time:
9.15am-12.30pm (please note that these are approximate times).
Distances:
Fun Runs
Prep and Year 1 – 600m, Year 2-3 – 800m, Year 4-6 – 1km
Championship
Students born 2005 – 2km,
Students born 2002, 2003 and 2004 – 2.5km
We would encourage all students to participate, regardless of their fitness levels. Please ensure that students have the following
on the day; correct school uniform (including house-coloured shirt), appropriate footwear, waterbottle, and sunscreen. A drink
station will be on the track for students to maintain their hydration. Each student will receive a Quelch ice block when they finish.
Please advise the physical education department if you would not like your child to receive an ice block.
Students will be participating in cross-country training during Physical Education lessons. We also have an athletics club for
students to participate in running training on Wednesday and Friday mornings. You may find a permission form for athletics club
on the school website. We encourage parents to assist with supporting your child/children with some light running training
outside of school hours. We invite the Bounty Boulevard State School community to attend and cheer on our athletes at the
school Cross-Country / Fun Run Carnival.
Students born between 2002 and 2005 will have the option of either running in their age group’s championship race or
participating in the fun run. If you would like your child (born 2002-2005) to run in the age championship race, please complete
the permission form below. Prep-Year 3 students (and Year 4 students born in 2006) will participate in the fun run only,
and therefore do not need to complete the form below. If your child is unable to participate in the carnival, please contact
your child’s classroom teacher as soon as possible. Please encourage your child/children to participate, as the carnival is
designed to be fun and to have maximum student participation. All students who participate in either the races or the fun run will
receive house points towards the House Championship.
All students have received an Adidas Fun Run Sponsorship Form to help collect sponsorship on behalf of the school. The funds
raised will be used to help fund various sporting equipment and programs throughout the school. We ask that all parents read
the sponsorship form and sign the front page to grant permission for their child to fundraise and participate in this event. On the
sponsorship form you will find many other benefits such as the chance to win a family holiday to Disneyland! Students can also
have family and friends help raise funds from overseas through the online fundraising option on www.schoolfunrun.com.au.
Students who raise $10 or more will receive a reward for their effort. Classroom teachers will explain to students the dangers of
door knocking without adult supervision; please reiterate this at home. The best people to ask for sponsorship are people you
know, for example, friends, family, work colleagues and neighbours. Once fundraising is complete, please help your child fill out
Step 5 – How to Claim Prizes on the back page of the Sponsorship Form. Tear this form off and return it with all money raised
to the fun run return desk that will be set up in front of the Learning Innovative Centre (L.I.C.) between 8:30am –
8:45am from Monday 30th March to Thursday 2nd April 2015. Sponsorship forms and money are not to be returned to
classroom teachers or to the office. Student prizes will arrive in term 2.
We are planning for a fun day and we look forward to your support in making this a successful carnival. Good luck and happy
fundraising!
Yours sincerely,
Matt Baker and Corey Millers
