STOP THE VIOLENCE "ACTIVATE" - State level Master Trainers
DATES AND VENUE:
The training is taking place at National Youth Complex, Gadpuri, Haryana from 5th May- 10th May 2015.
GOAL AND OBJECTIVES:
The Bharat Scouts and Guides is organizing ACTIVATE training event as a part of its National advocacy
campaign, ‘Stop the Violence: speak out for rights’. These events train girls and boys who are members of
Bharat Scouts and Guides on gender-based violence.
Stop the Violence campaign and the Voices against Violence curriculum, which was produced by WAGGGS in
partnership with UN Women and sits within the Stop the Violence campaign. These participants will take their
learning back to their State Association and work with them to commit in rolling out the curriculum and launching
the campaign at the state and district level.
We are looking for key volunteers who will facilitate ‘Stop the Violence campaign’. The key volunteers are
committed to deliver state level ACTIVATE events. This commitment would mean supporting, shadowing and
contributing to the planning and delivery of the ACTIVATE events, with the end goal in mind of building a strong
core Bharat Scouts and Guides Stop the Violence activists’.
Criteria for applying:
Essential
 Available to be at National Headquarters for the ACTIVATE training from 5th – 10th May 2015
 Able to commit to at least two state level* ACTIVATE events
 Confidence to handle difficult conversations safely
 Friendly and empathetic
 Tolerant and culturally sensitive
 Familiarity with the Stop the Violence campaign
 Open-minded and willing for own views to be altered
 Willingness to be briefed and trained on how to handle disclosures, if not yet trained
Desirable
 Ability to speak English fluently, or well enough to deliver a training in the language and respond safely
and adequately to disclosures and queries
 A good understanding of what gender-based violence is and its root causes
 Experience of working with the topic of gender-based violence
 Experience of supporting survivors of violence
 Familiarity with an ACTIVATE event
 Experience of training others to train

The Stop the Violence campaign, and Voices against Violence curriculum, have been developed on the basis of
internationally accepted human rights and theories on gender-based violence – and violence against girls in particular –
that WAGGGS and BS&G will expect Master trainers to embrace and promote. Through this campaign we can work
together towards a world free from violence and the fear of violence.
