Principal’s Message
Spring is here!
Welcome back from Spring Break, we are going to
have a busy last quarter of school. In the next 10
weeks we have Carnival, Spring Concert, 3-6th Open
House, SBAC Testing, and numerous other events
planned. Please check our website, The Reporter,
and the Remind texts to keep up to date.
History Day
Congratulations to Miliana Perez and Paige Smith for
placing 2nd place in the recent History Day event.
Their project was on Amelia Earhart: Leading the
Way for Woman Today. Congrats to all of our
participants.
Campus Beautification
A special thank you to BR parent, Mrs. Brooke Powell,
and the 50+ students who planted flowers and picked
up litter on campus this past Wednesday. The BR
PTC, once again supplied funds for the flowers,
plants, and three maple trees.
SART Parent Surveys
In the coming weeks please check back in
Principal’s Message as I answer some of
misconceptions and misinformation about
programs and policies at BR. I will also discuss
plans to remedy the issues raised in the surveys.

BUD RANK IS GOING TO “PURPLE UP!”
April is the month of the Military Child, a time to
recognize the sacrifice that the children and youth of our
military personnel make.
Everyone across Clovis
Unified is encouraged to wear purple on Wednesday,
April 15th, as a visible way to show support and thank
military children for their strength and sacrifices.
Purple Up! This National event is sponsored by the US
Army Family and Moral, Recreation Program, and locally
by the Fresno National Guard’s Child & Youth Program

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLUB
We have two Bud Rank parents, Ms. Rosemary Diaz (who
is an American Sign Language teacher, and is deaf
herself) and Ms. Hansen (who is married to a man who is
a child of deaf parents) have volunteered to teach ASL at
Bud Rank. With the full support of Bud Rank, they would
like to form an optional 6-week club for 3rd and 4th
graders to teach American Sign Language. Students will
meet every Wednesday from 2-3:00pm, in the Bud Rank
Library starting April 8th through Wednesday, May 13th.
Students are encouraged to bring a small snack to eat
before the club. Space will be limited to the first 30
students! Students will need to be picked up/walk home
from the Library; there is no CUSD Bus Transportation on
Wednesdays. Please fill out and return the flyer on the
BR website by April 7, 2015.
CLOVIS RODEO COLORING CONTEST
On the Bud Rank website is a coloring page that students,
grades K-2nd can color and enter to win tickets to the
Clovis Rodeo. Entries are due by Tuesday, April 7th.

CELDT CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to our 9 students who were reclassified
this year! Third graders Ximena Arce, Jason He, and
fourth graders Daniel Pogosian, Kevin Wu, Jagshaan
Sidhu, Masao Gonzalez, Erick Herrera Castaneda, Yi
He, and Abigail Navarro.
These students scored Advanced or Early Advanced on
their last CELDT, have a 2.0 GPA or higher, and score
proficient on our development tests. 3rd-6th graders are
eligible to reclassify every year. They are monitored for 2
more years, but will not take the CELDT ever again!
Huge thanks to Mrs. Tomoko Naito who meets with some
of our 3rd-6th grade English Learner students each week.
She guides them in earning more AR points, studying for
tests, organizing, and making up missing assignments.
Her position was funded out of our Title III- EL funds from
the State. The kids & teachers love the effort she gives.
As always your support is appreciated. Our last ELAC
meeting is June 1, 2015 at 3:30 in the library.
