THE LONDON BOROUGH
25th March 2015
Dear Parent or Carer
I am writing to inform you that your son’s full annual report has now been completed and is
attached with this letter. Please read it carefully and discuss it in depth with the student. It is
important that teacher comments on what must be done to improve are acknowledged and
students are aware of our expectations and your support of them.
I would also like to offer you the opportunity to visit the school on Friday 27th March to meet
with our dedicated staff to enable you to discuss at length the annual student report. This is a
fantastic event for you to meet with all the relevant staff associated with the student’s
education who will answer any questions you may have about pupil progress.
As Head of School, accompanied by my senior leadership team, we will also be available to
discuss any concerns with student progress and development. Please either phone the school
in advance or ask for an appointment on arrival.
I am also pleased to inform you that the building work at Burwood School, Avalon Road, is
coming to its final phase and the school is much better equipped to facilitate learning and
achievement of all our pupils. I am sure you will agree that the work completed was worth
the wait and a tour of the school can be arranged on Friday for you. Please feel free to ask
any member of staff.
Finally, I would like to draw your attention to the school’s website which contains all policies
and important procedures, as well as copies of letters to parents, and external reports from
Ofsted. Here you can also read the School Development Plan and Self Evaluation
Framework. Additionally, you will discover many fine examples of student work and
achievements that have currently been undertaken as part of their curriculum. The site may
be accessed at: www.burwood.bromley.sch.uk.
I look forward to meeting you on Friday 27th March.
I trust you will enjoy a peaceful holiday.
Yours sincerely
Gareth McCullough
