International Migratory Bird Day
Sunday, May 10 from 11 am – 3 pm at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary - For over 20 years Environment for the
Americas has been celebrating International Migratory Bird Day. Join Parks staff and local experts for a funfilled day of games, entertainment and activities to celebrate bird migration and conservation. Donations
welcome.
Annual Children’s Art Exhibition – FREE
Date & location – TBD. Join us for the 28th Annual Children’s Art Exhibition. Celebrate the multitude of
artworks – sculpture, painting, drawing, mixed media and more – created by young artists aged 3 – 17 at

Walk with Wildlife
From June 11-14, Calgarians are invited to combine physical fitness with nature exploration! Journey to every
quadrant of the city and explore a different park each day during the event. Guided walks will be combined

Thursday, June 18, 2015 Village Square Leisure Centre is joining thousands of kids and families at aquatic
facilities and waterparks around the globe for The World's Largest Swimming LessonTM. We’re attempting to
break the Guinness World RecordTM to spread the word that Swimming Lessons Save LivesTM.
Try It for a Toonie: Father’s Day Dad + Me Shinny
Saturday, June 20, from 3:30 - 4:30 pm at Village Square Liesure Centre.
Grab your kids (4Y – 12Y) and come down for an afternoon of skating fun! Maximum ratio of two children to
each father or guardian. Full equipment is required. Babysitting is free for children age 3Y and under!

Go Skateboarding Day – FREE
Sunday, June 21 at Shaw Millennium Park.
Participate in jam style competitions on various obstacles and receive a prize. Listen to great music while
cheering on those competing in this annual event. Free Drop-in.
All Sport One Day – FREE
Saturday, June 20, 10 – 2:30 pm, ages 6 – 12 yrs.
Don’t limit yourself! Discover a sport through a sport sampler of your choice. Calgary Sport Council, City of
Calgary Recreation and Recreation Facility Partners across Calgary are providing opportunities for kids to be

Beginner Golf Nights
Mondays evenings starting June 22 and running on all summer. Are you new to golf? Feeling a little intimated?

Drop-in Climbing Wall
Located at Beltline Aquatic & Fitness Centre and at Southland Leisure Centre
An introduction to belay instruction is offered the first half hour each day. Equipment is provided and

Family Swim
Sundays, 8 am – 12 pm at Southland Leisure Centre
It’s a designated family swim time. Come enjoy our waterpark, including a trip or two to the AquaPlay
structure. Be prepared to get wet! Adults must be accompanied by a child and all children must be
accompanied by an adult. Regular admission applies.
Sunday Splash Swim - Check your favourite tie one and two swimming pool schedule for Sunday Splash Swim,

Preschool Age
Drop-In Playschool Programs at Southland Leisure Centre
Want to sample some of our Playschool activities including educational play centres, gym time, arts/crafts and
circle time based on a variety of themes? We have Drop-in Kinderschool for 3-5 year olds on Mondays and
Wednesdays, 1-3 pm and Friday Funtime, 1-3 pm. Pre-book your space by the day prior by calling 403-6486558. Cost is $13.05 per time slot ($7.85 for passholders). Call the centre at 403-648-6550 for more

Drop-in Preschool Programs at Southland Leisure Centre
Check out some of our drop-in preschool programs including Kinder Room, Snug, Kinderschool and Tot’s Gym

Drop-in Jungle Gym at Village Square Leisure Centre Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 – 7 pm and Wednesday 9 –
10:30 am. For children up to age 6. Open for climbers, crawlers and jumpers all on a soft and safe surface.

Registration for the 2015 to 2016 school year began in February 2015.
Village Square Leisure Centre’s Playschool program is for children ages 2 – 4, and runs from September to
June. Your child will grow and develop through a variety of activities that emphasize social, physical,
intellectual and emotional development with the guidance of experienced and knowledgeable instructors.
Your child will leave our program with the skills to succeed in school. Registration is ongoing, register now
before spaces fill.

Friday nights have taken an active twist! Come with your friends and join us in the Sport Hall for a variety of
