FLORIDA ALTERNATE ASSESSMENT
nd
Testing for our students in grades 3 – 10 begins on March 2 . Parents and caregivers, please make sure that students are in attendance and
are ready to be assessed. Make sure students get a good night’s rest and don’t forget to offer words of encouragement. Our rating score
for 2014 was declining. I know we can obtain a rating score of “improving” for 2015.
Let’s Work Together!!!
Parent Services
We all appreciate the very important role that parents/caregivers play in the successful education of their children. An important tool
that gives parents a voice into this whole process is the ESE Parent Survey. The Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) is
required by the US Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) to gather information on how well
Florida’s schools are supporting parents’ involvement in their child’s education. In order to get this information, the FLDOE
conducts an annual ESE Parent Survey for parents of Pre-K and K-12 students who are receiving ESE services. The survey is
st
st
open February 1 - May 31 of each year and consists of 25 items. Parents/caregivers can access and complete the survey online
at: www.esesurvey.com. If a paper survey is needed, parents may contact FDLRS Parent Services at (813)837-7733.
Family Fair Program
On Saturday, February 28, 2015, the Parent Liaison Project, in conjunction with the Transition staff, will be hosting a Family Fair at
the Manhattan Center for parents and guardians of students with disabilities. The Family Fair will feature simultaneous breakout
sessions, as well as an informative poster session showcasing many local community and agency resources.
The Manhattan Center is located at 4210 W. Bay Villa Ave. Tampa, FL 33611. Onsite registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The Family

WOW!!! Congratulations Caminiti….. We have been awarded a SEDNET mini grant of $250.00. The successful application was submitted by
Cynthia Duffy, Caminiti school social worker, who requested funding to support the purchase of items for Caminiti’s Cougar Store. We are into
our second year of the Cougar store and it continues to be a big hit with our students. We stock a wide range of items based largely on
student and teacher input, including food/snacks, soda, juice, small items of clothing and accessories such as socks, baseball hats, t-shirts,
purses, costume jewelry, books, action figures, dollar items and much more. Students can shop at the store weekly with the cougar dollars
they have earned through the use of a classroom based behavior daily point sheet system. We can’t wait to spend our $250 on more exciting
goodies for the store!
