Job Description: Camp Monahan is searching for an enthusiastic person to plan, organize and
run an effective swimming program for campers aged 6 to 13. Prior to the camping season, you
are responsible for submitting a program plan (incorporating weekly themes) and ordering any
required materials within the designated budget. At camp, the swim instructors are responsible
for teaching basic swimming skills and organizing age-appropriate games to be played in the
camp’s junior Olympic-sized pool. The swim instructor must be 16 years or older and must have
current Bronze Cross, Standard first aid (or aquatic emergency care equivalent) and CPR-C
certificates. The swim instructors will also be in charge of all pool supervision during programs
and free time. This position will also work with the camp caretaker to ensure the general upkeep
and operation of the pool is maintained throughout the camping season. The swim instructors are
also required to participate in all other camp activities including campfire, chapel, meals, group
activities and staff meetings.
The swim instructor will be responsible for First Aid Attendant duties. CPR C and First aid
certificate are mandatory. Prior to camp season the First Aid Attendant will be responsible for
purchasing first aid supplies and ensuring the First Aid Station is adequately prepared. At the
start of each week, the First Aid Attendant will be responsible for meeting with parents and
discussing all medications to be administered throughout the week, as well as discussing any
medical concerns they may have. The First Aid Attendant responsibilities include handing out
and documenting medications administration and performing emergency first aid. Strong
communication skills, detail orientated, experience with camping and children, and any medical
experience are considered assets to this position.

Job Title: Male Junior Camp Counsellor
Job Description: Camp Monahan is looking for a male Junior Camp Counsellor to help run and
supervise children during the camping programs. The position is perfect for young adults who
are interested in working with children, nature and love camp life. This position and our hope is
to help young adults gain experience and skills which will someday help them become leaders of
our organization. Responsibilities of this position include leading groups of campers varying in
age from 6 to 13. Junior counsellors will also assist the program staff in organizing and running
the swimming, canoeing, craft, outdoor education, and discovery programs. Junior counsellors
are expected to participate in all camp activities including campfire, Chapel, meals, group
activities and staff meetings. Qualifications in First Aid and previous camping experience are
considered assets. Applicants should also be mature young adults, who work well with others

Job Title: Camp Caretaker
Job Description: Camp Monahan is looking for an experienced caretaker to take care of the
grounds for the summer camping season. The successful applicant will have good organizational
skills, work well under pressure, and have experience with electrical, plumbing, and sewage
systems. The caretaker is responsible to open the camp in May including start-up plumbing and
water wells, test sewage systems, open all buildings, preparing swimming pool and
maintenance as required, testing swimming pool plumbing and filtration systems, mowing of
grass, and general upkeep and duties as required. During the May and June the caretaker will
act as host and caretaker for rental groups ensuring facilities are clean and ready. During the
active summer children’s camping season the Caretaker will ensure facilities are maintained.
Caretaker is in charge of delegating duties to the Assistant Caretaker and supervising their
work.
This position answers directly to the Building and Grounds chair (May and June) and the Camp
Director (July and August). A valid driver’s license, WHMIS, OHS Training, Pool Operators
Course, Criminal record check are all required. First aid and CPR is considered an asset. All
qualifications and certificates are required to be submitted at the time of hire. Please submit a

applicant will have a strong love for cooking, children, and camp life. It is essential for the
applicant to have strong leadership and organization skill, be a team player, friendly, good
communication skills, be self motivated and possess good cooking skills to ensure the camping
season runs smoothly. This position is perfect for the person or couple who may want to get
away from the busy city life and enjoy their summer in the beautiful Qu’Appelle Valley on
Katepwa Lake. Duties include:
Prepare three healthy, full course meals and two nutritious snacks per day suitable for
children ages 6-16, following the Canada Food Guide.
Experience with quantity cooking a definite asset, as you will be preparing for
approximately 100-130 campers, staff and volunteers per meal.
Prepare a nutritional menu keeping in mind quality and adequate proportions following
the Canada Food Guide prior to the start of the camping season, in conjunction with the
Food Services committee. Plan for alternative menus for those requiring special meals as
required.
Maintain adequate supply of inventory, prepare list of needed supplies, following budget
outline and submit and monitor weekly orders.
Work closely with senior programs and out tripping staff regarding menu and food
supplies required for off-site camping trips.
Ensure all health regulations are adhered to in the preparation of food and all related
equipment in order to meet Health Standards. Cleanliness is of utmost importance.
In charge of delegating duties to the Assistant Cook, train and delegate duties to
volunteer kitchen staff and supervising their work.
At the end of the season, responsible for the shutdown of the kitchen, including all good
and equipment storage.
Responsible to prepare an end of season report including inventory of the remaining food
and equipment, successes and recommendations.
Your immediate supervisor is the Camp Director and Executive Director. The Department of
Health Food Handlers Certificate is mandatory and is required to be submitted along with a
