The St Vincent’s Pharmacy Service consists of over 55 team members including pharmacists,
pharmacy technicians and support staff. We pride our self on a culture of working collaboratively to
aspire, achieve and innovate. Pharmacy services are decentralised taking a contemporary approach
to patient-centred care. We provide pharmacy services from nine pharmacy locations spread across
the campus servicing medical, surgical and speciality patient treatment areas. Clinical pharmacists
play a significant role as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team at St Vincent’s, which
delivers care in a patient-focused manner. In addition, outpatient / ambulatory pharmacy services,
aseptic manufacturing, oncology production, drug information, Quality Use of Medicines (QUM),
Drug Use Evaluation (DUE), medication safety, antimicrobial stewardship, clinical trials and practice
research are but some of the additional services provided by pharmacy here at St Vincent’s. We
work toward providing a benchmark standard for patient care underpinned by a strong focus on
evidence-based practice and medication safety.

St. Vincents has funding for 2016 to employ 7 intern pharmacists.
The pre-registrant program at St.Vincents aims to provide a good foundation and transition to
practice as a skilled clinical pharmacist.
Our interns are rotated to all areas of the pharmacy department including antimicrobial
stewardship, medication safety, research, outreach medication review, sterile manufacturing and
clinical ward areas (wards include emergency, psychiatry, cardiology, haematology,
gastroenterology, neurosurgery, renal, general medicine and Intensive care), to gain a wide
experience in pharmacy practice. Also included in the program are weekly tutorials and practice
exams (oral and written throughout the year) to help prepare the intern for their registration exam.
