RULES APPLICABLE TO BOTH RACES









Entries available on the day from 6H00 or pre-enter online at www.racetraq.co.za.
Both races start opposite the Brookside main gates in Imam Haron Road (formerly Lansdowne Road).
Each kilometre will be marked in both races.
No seconding from moving vehicles is allowed and no personal seconding is permitted except at official
refreshment stations.
Please do not litter. Use the bins provided or carry it with you.
All participants must obey traffic officers, race officials and race marshals at all times.
Although traffic officers will supervise major road intersections, individuals must be careful of traffic.
Due to safety reasons neither the 15km nor the 8km course can accommodate wheel chairs.
For safety reasons the use of personal music players with headphones during road races is discouraged.
Persons using them in contravention of IAAF Rule 144.3b will not be eligible for overall or age group prizes
and may be disqualified if they fail to obey a reasonable instruction from a race official.
RULES & INFORMATION:






8 km ROAD RACE
All athletes must wear BOTH 2015 ASA licenses (front and back), or must purchase a temporary license to be
worn on the front of the vest. No race numbers will be issued.
Only licensed athletes will count for age category prizes.
Minimum age 12 years.
There will be two water points on the route at approx. 3km and 5.5km with Coke at the finish.
Prize giving and cut off is at 09h00.

RULES & INFORMATION:

8 km FUN RUN/WALK
The 8km Fun Run/Walk starts together with the 8km Road Race and follows the same route.
Participants in the 8km Fun Run/Walk option do NOT have to wear licenses nor age tags and do NOT have to
purchase temporary licenses.
Participants in the 8km FUN RUN/WALK will NOT be considered for age category prizes.
Fun Runners are requested to line up near the back of the field at the start.
Social walkers are welcome.
Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Prams/strollers and pets are permitted but are requested to start at the back of the field.
8km Fun Run/Walk participants will earn a medal at the finish and are eligible for spot prizes at prize giving.
Entry cards must be in the athlete’s possession during the race and be handed in at the 8km results board at
the finish.
The 8km Fun Run/Walk will be timed and included in the overall results for the 8km Road Race.

15km ROAD RACE
No race numbers will be issued. All athletes must wear their 2015 ASA licenses (front and back), or must
purchase a temporary license to be worn on the front of the vest.
There is NO FUN RUN option for the 15km event. Please see 8km Fun Run.
To be eligible for age category prizes, age category tags must be worn (e.g. J, 40, 50, 60) on front and back of
vest. Temporary licensed runners are eligible for age category prizes provided they enter the relevant age
group, wear age tags and provide proof of age. Age category tags will be available to purchase at registration.
Club colours and valid ASA licenses must be worn to qualify for team prizes.
Minimum age 15 years.
There will be four refreshment points on the route at approx. 3.5km, 7.5km, 10.5km and 12.5km.
Entry cards must be in the athlete’s possession during the race and be handed in at the 15km results board at
the finish.
Prize giving and cut off is at 10h30.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR ALL COMPETITORS











Entries for all races are taken on the day from 06h00.
Alternatively pre-enter online at www.racetraq.co.za and collect race entry card on the day.
A tog bag storage facility will be provided at the owner’s risk.
Toilets will be supplied on the route at both water points on the 8km and the second and fourth water points on
the 15km route.
Results for both races will be circulated electronically to all clubs and will be posted on www.wpa.org.za and
www.celticharriers.co.za .
Participants must be present at the respective prize giving to win lucky draw prizes.
Held under the auspices of WPA and ASA.
Athletes enter entirely at their own risk. The organisers, sponsors and relevant sports & government authorities
will not accept responsibility for any loss, damage or injury to participants.

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY. In particular the 15km runners are encouraged to arrive before the 8km start
at 07h15 and to avoid Imam Haron Road (Lansdowne Road) which will be closed from 07h10 to 07h20
between Cook Road and Stanhope Bridge.
