Class of 2014 on Sunday, May 18, at 2:30pm at Overisel Reformed Church.
Severe Weather Cancellation Guidelines
If a Tornado Watch or Warning has been posted one hour prior to a church service or church
activity, the service/activity will be cancelled. Please listen to one of the following for the status of
church activities:

Hamilton’s 87th Memorial Day Parade!
Ice Cream Social
We invite the entire community to come out and take
part in this special celebration. We would be honored
to have all Veterans, combat and non-combat, come
out and march in the parade. Rides are available.
Enter your business or community floats, antique cars
and tractors, horses, bikes and military vehicles, etc.
We want to see the whole community come out and be
a part of this special time! Kids - we need a lot of
candy catchers, too! Line up begins at 8:00am. Enter
at the high school and follow the service drive around
to line up at the middle school. The parade begins at
9:00am. Immediately following the parade, you are
encouraged to attend a public Memorial Service at
Riverside Cemetery. Please contact Michelle Timmer
at (269) 751-8513 if you have questions. In the event
of inclement weather, parade cancellation information
will be announced on Wood TV 8.
We will be celebrating the end of another
great season of ministry with
an ice cream social in the Fellowship Hall
immediately following the morning worship
service on Sunday, May 4. Come and join
us for a great time of fellowship!
**An important note from the Allegan County Sheriff’s
Department - NO ATVs, dirt bikes, golf carts or other
off-road vehicles are allowed in the parade.
Community Memorial Day Breakfast
A Community Memorial Day Breakfast will be held at
the Hamilton Christian Reformed Church on Monday,
May 26 from 7:00-9:00am. A breakfast of pancakes,
scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee and juice will be
available. Come and enjoy a great breakfast before
the parade. The breakfast will be held rain or shine.

Our High School Graduates
Drew Boerman is graduating from Hamilton High School.
He was a center on the football team and served as captain
of the wrestling team all four years of high school. Drew
plans on attending Baker College Muskegon beginning in the
fall of 2015 for an Associate’s Degree as a Physical Therapist
Assistant. He will be working full-time for Tri-Ponds
Campground when school gets out.
Ashley Driscoll is graduating from Driscoll Homeschool
where she was top of her class all four years. Ashley
hopes to get a job at a craft supply store or a job
pertaining to animal husbandry.
Zackary Kempkers is graduating from Hamilton High
School. He is working on joining the Coast Guard.
A high school senior in Washington, D.C., offered this graduation prayer:
“Dear God, grant us one thing before we leave the sheltered reassurance of our childhood. Show
us life. Not an empty, shallow world of shallow people and shallow dreams, but real life. For we
have known the bliss of childhood as well as the passion of adolescence. We want to make the
world a better place, but we don’t know how. We want to throw our arms around our brothers and
our sisters, but our hands cannot reach. We want to break the cycle of violence and the bonds of
injustice in our society, but we’re not strong. Smile on us when we drink from the waters of truth.
When we are old, reassure us that our struggle helped make the world a kinder, gentler and more
peaceful place. And please, God, don’t let us die without ever having lived.”
Our College Graduates
Nicki Boerman is graduating from Grand Valley State
University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology. She
was active in the Anthropology Club and participated in the
Bioarchaeology and Forensic Anthropology Conference as
well as the Ukraine Field School. She is a member of the
Lambda Alpha National Honors Society in Anthropology.
Nicki plans on finding a job that will give her some on the job
training. She will return to school at a later date for her
Master’s Degree. Ultimately, she would like to work with a
team solving cold cases through the use of skeletal material.
Jackie Devereaux graduated from Kalamazoo Valley
Community College in December with an Associate’s
degree in Business Administration. She played
basketball for two years at KVCC. She was a
member of Phi Theta Kappa and finished with a 3.84
GPA. She received Exemplary Academic All
American from the National Junior College Athletic
Association, Academic All State and Academic All
Conference from the Michigan Community College
Athletic Association. Jackie plans on finding a job in
her field, getting married to Tyler Taratuta in October
2015, and going back to college at a later date.
A college class was graduating on a hot and humid day. As the graduates walked across the platform
and received their diplomas from the president, he smiled, shook their hands and said loudly,
“Congratulations!” Then, in a much lower voice, one that was firm and could be heard only by the
graduates, he would say, “Keep moving.”
He was only trying to keep the line moving across the stage, but his words were good advice for a
lifetime: “Keep moving.” After every achievement — growing up, graduation, marriage, job promotion,
even retirement — the best advice is, “Keep moving.” Don’t stop. Don’t stagnate. There is more to life
than you have found thus far. This is not the end; it is only the beginning. Keep moving.

We are taking the church bus and heading to Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek.
When: Saturday, May 31
Time: Leave church – 8:30 am; return approx. 5:00 pm
How much: $17 per person; $15 for children 2-10; ages 2 and under are free
**We will be collecting money on two Sunday mornings – May 18 & 25**
**Please pay on one of those dates**
Lunch Details: Binder Park has a food policy as follows - "Lunches should be eaten in the
picnic areas provided. All food must be left on the bus or in vehicles. NO food including
coolers or picnic fare may be brought into the Zoo. Water bottles are permitted." So, not to
say you “can’t” bring your own lunch, but if you do you may want to consider eating it first
thing before entering the zoo. The bus will not be accessible once it is parked. There are a
couple of different places within the zoo where food is available to purchase.
A sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board by the kitchen.
Don’t delay!
Light snacks will be provided on the bus.
Don’t forget your camera and wear comfortable walking shoes.

How to Pray
 Pray where you are. God is present everywhere and ready to listen.
 Pray, when possible, in a quiet place where you can be alone. It is good to fix your mind
deliberately on God, apart from confusing distractions.
 Pray to God simply and naturally, as to a friend. Tell him what is on your mind. Get help
from the prayers of others.
 Pray, remembering the good things God has done for you. Give thanks for all your blessings.
 Pray for God’s forgiveness for the unworthy things you may have done. He is near to a
humble and contrite heart.
 Pray especially for those things that will make your life more Christ-like.
 Pray for others, remembering the help they need for the situations they confront.
 Pray for the world in its need, and for God to guide you toward ways you can help.
 Pray that God’s will be done in you. His purposes are deeper and wiser than our own.
 Pray, and then allow God to answer your prayer.
